He cheated at UF, because it is an extremely difficult curriculum, but at Auburn, classes are easier, and the school offers much more support to hard working student athletes.

Actually, I have more respect for Urban Meyer because UF could have been #1 with Cam Newton around, but instead Meyer did the right thing and didn't let the cheater hang around.

By the way, how does a guy like this get into a school (any school) but Dorsey can't (I don't mean UM, I mean any school)?

Really? more respect for Urban Meyer? Have you seen the sort of guys that he has on the team? Roughly 30 arrests in the past five years. Guy who shoots an AK-47 out of his trunk. A guy who texts "Time to Die, Bitch" to his girlfriend, then waits outside of her house. Urban doesn't suspend people for poking opposing players in the eyes. Then, when a player leaves and is successful for another team, he starts leaking condemning information about them? Oh, not to mention how he threatens the reporter who quoted his WR about Brantley being a better QB than Tebow. "You're a bad guy, a bad, bad guy..."

Newton screwed up a lot at Florida.  Though he says he "voluntarily" transferred, most of the people down here thought he was pushed out by Meyer for a lack of discipline.  What he did at Florida, though, has nothing to do with what he did in JUCO, or what he has done at Auburn.  On the surface, he has been a good citizen since arriving there.

It is well-documented that Newton was not much of a citizen at Florida.  The main question around Newton is whether he matured and grew into a good citizen, or whether he is still the same person he was at Florida.  Whatever the case, it will all "come out in the wash."  Thanks to the internet, it is getting harder and harder to hide major violations.

The bloodhounds are definitely on Newton's trail.  If there is anything to find, they will find it.

1) the growing taint around UF lessens the chance that Pope Urban transmigrates to Notre Dame. He's up to his ears in the slime and unless he jumps quickly--with some pretty good explanations--the ND window will shut permanently.

2) A certain kind of thoughtful kid and his parents who want an education for their kid may stear clear of programs connected to the SEC--with its suggestion that the kid was being shopped to all comers, the Newton story implicates the whole league.

An increasingly powerful Big 10 may come to look attractive to the public in comparison to the SEC.

If the NCAA wasn't the de facto minor league of the NFL these problems either wouldn't exist or would be minor and rare occurrences.  It's the system that's flawed.  Shady agents, parents, and players are just symptoms of the disease.

I'm surprised that no one has ever started a legit minor league program.  It would have all/most of the top tier talent that really doesn't want to go to college, but isn't 2 years removed from HS.  Essentially it would be a college team without the academics.  A better picture would be any Saban coached team that can right now be called Alabama.

Fans love NCAA FB and NFL, why not a minor league?

Recall when a team tutor at OSU let out that tutor employees were taking tests for players and the coaches knew.

NCAA laughed and let it all slide.

Nothing will happen here, either.
