OT: MLB The Show 11 vs. 10
Alright, so I'm interested to hear if any of you fine folks out there have bought MLB 11 The Show. If you have, what do you think of it in general? And I typically do RTTS with a pitcher, so if anyone has done that with MLBTS11, let me know.
From what I've heard and read from others, it seems like the graphics are still stellar, the hitting is harder (but more realistic, e.g., you're not hitting 10 home runs every game), the announcing sucks, and the main difference is the analog controls for hitting, pitching, and fielding. I haven't heard or read anything specific to RTTS with a pitcher though, so I'm curious to hear if there are any changes with that. I currently own and really enjoy playing MLBTS10 and I don't think I'll pay full price for 11, but I'm interested to hear other opinions.
Your lucky you have question what year to get. The poor souls on 360 like my self get stuck with 2k which is god awful. The only reason I buy it is because I have hope it doesn't suck as bad and I love baseball to much not to buy it. The show is a great game any way you slice it and don't be picky because you can always tell yourself atleast I don't get stuck with 2k lol. God I miss triple play and MVP baseball
I had MLB 07 or so for my PSP but I have 2k9 for my 360 and its terrible. I want a new baseball game so bad but there is no way I will put another dime into the 2k series. I would say you might as well buy MLB The Show 11, because I would.
Yeah, the only reason I bought a PS3 was because of MLB The Show. As annoying as some aspects of the game are, one thing I've heard pretty much across the board is how much better MLBTS is compared to 2K.
Smart choice my friend I bought 360 for halo and I lost interest in that in about 6 months. Not a great choice on my part
I have MLB 11. I love the game. The new analog fielding, hitting, and pitching (my favorite) have definitely revived the game. The series essentially had the same control scheme for over 6 years and it was getting stale. Hitting is much more difficult at first, so you have to be patient, but it is also much more rewarding when you are successful. I will say, if you are going to do RTTS as a pitcher, it will be more fun because of the new pitching controls. Also, they revamped the way you accumulate points for you're player (instead of the goals system). So for example, as a pitcher, if you get a guy out in only a couple pitches, you'll get more points than if it took you 8 to do the same thing. As a hitter, points are assigned based on the result of the play, how solid the contact was, and how many pitches you saw. I think it adds some freshness to the game that was much needed. Other than that, the game modes are relatively unchanged. But the game plays so well that it doesn't bother me. I'd definitely recommend buying it. But just remember, especially with hitting, it's very challenging at first.
Have to say 11 is better if only for the point system in RTTS. And not having to make major updates to rosters with all of the changes is quite useful.
I picked up The Show 11 not too long ago. I have to agree with the early frustrations. Mind you, I hadn't played a baseball game since the Sega Genesis, but I started a RTTS 1st baseman (woo lefties) and suffered through a .150 batting average for a while. I've brought it up to about .250 right now and it's gotten a little bit easier. However, I will say this:
I effing hate the slurve. Can't hit it to save my life.
Change-ups and sliders still do my RTTS guy in.
I love 10 (as I did 08 and 09) and just had not gotten around to buying 11 yet. These favorable reviews, especially in the RTTS pitching mode, have convinced me to get off my lazy ass and buy the damn thing already.

i have played the show since 09 and like you purchased a PS3 specifically for the show. i never really got into the pitching much on the previous versions because i could never truely control where the pitches went, they would be close but consistancy is what frustrated me. the meter pitching is wonderful this year, you have much more control over up, down, left and right with the ball. as others have said, the point system is so much better also. you don't usually rack up 150 points in one game, mostly when hitting, like you could easily do in previous versions but you don't get a fail on certain challenges because of the dumbass computer baserunners, you still get points for good contact, timing and/or working the pitch count. as much as it's still the same game, the minor tweaks were a great improvment. and yes the commentating is terrible as a lot of people say but the have some funny lines every now and then.
It's extremely hard to hit at first. Gotta be patient, literally.
Stay back as best you can - most pitches are reaaaaaaaaally close to the zone. Pitchers don't miss by much in this game.
If you liked 10, 11 is better. The graphics are better and the rtts mode is more indepth. It is also easier to make your guy better because of the new batter by batter training points. It is a must buy i would say. You will not regret the purchase

11 is a lot better. I didn't care for the new controls and used the old, but the game is still better. There are so many more types of hits in this game. I years past it was either ground ball through the infield or a home run. A solid liner for a single never happened before, and in this year it does. The depth of the types of hits in this years game is what makes it better.
