Could be a big night for multiple teams.
Yeah, nice stats tonight, and how nice tryng not to give much away
Thank the lord for that double play. I don't care if it's a Monday night, I have my cold Bud Light waiting if this game ends as it should. Don't happen often in the Motor City.
I think Albuquerque just walked the Coors Light vendor in Section 213.
I have never seen a right hander hit a home run to right field by a right hander harder then Cabby hit that missle earlier. MVP IMO.
...Did you never see Manny Ramirez hit? (BTW, it's a testament to Cabrera that I'm busting out the Manny comparison because Manny was the fucking boss)
Best opposite field power hitters of all-time...
When it's all said and done, one can make a good argument for Miguel Cabrera. Some other recent players that come to mind are Manny, A-Rod, and Chipper.
Don't forget about Pujols.
OH HAI GUYZ, I'm Miguel Cabrera and I have sole possession of first place in HRs now.
BUT I THOUGHT YOUR NAME WAS TOM.
The Tigers suck, they're going to find some way to lose the division and not make the playoffs. Better pre-order your Chicago White Sox 2012 AL Central champs t-shirts now, cus they'll go quickly after Wednesday. Cabrera sucks, Fielder's a fat, good for nothing tub of lard, our starting pitching is grossly overrated, and our bullpen sucks. Hope you're ready for a long off season.
Does this still work?
I guess we'll see in about 30-45 minutes.
Doesn't count when you wait until the 8th inning.
CWS throttled Cleveland 11-0. Even Drum Guy went home early.
Yankees had 4 homeruns in one inning.
Fuck the Yankees!
Big Deal. Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game for Polk High
Fernando Tatis hit 2 grandslams in one inning!
Boy, Andy Dirks is having himself quite a year. I hear someone else has 3 hits tonight, while Mauer is 1-5 so far in another town.
How does the seeding work? I know the WCs play each other, but then what?
WC winner plays division champ with best record (regardless of division). Other two division winners play.
So we'll have the East Champion. Hopefully it's the Orioles, I think we'd have a better shot against them
NY will get the Saturday night game for sure. I don't want Michigan and the Tigers playing at the same time. Plus I like playing them in a short series.
Would have the west champion if the Yankees sweep Boston (who is basically a single-a team at this point) and Oakalnd take two or three from Texas.
I never flipped over to the White Sox, anyone catch any delicious schadenfreude from Hawk tonight? He had looked a little down in the mouth lately.
Trout 2-2 so far. Angels may live to fight another day.
Miguel with a 4 hit performance. He might have sealed the batting crown tonight. Currently .006 ahead of Trout and .007 ahead of Mauer.
1 HR ahead of Hamilton, who has most of 1 game in hand.
Hey, that looks like a big potato.
No, that's Billy Butler with his shirt off.
Come on Papa.
One more out. C'mon boys....
I'm finally starting to feel like the difficulty that the boys put us through this season is all worth it now
CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YEAH!!!!! GO TIGERS!!!!
Way to go Tigers!
Despite their best efforts to blow everything, the Tigers have made the playoffs. Even though the road didn't go as expected, it's a great feeling!
Who wants to bet Leyland cries in his post game interview?
Maybe next year we can clinch this at home in early September. Crazy year so far
It's a division title. Never take those for granted. I remember the playoff drought from 1987-2006 all too well.
Congrats, Tigers. It wasn't always easy or pretty, but another AL Central pennant sure feels good.
Long, long summer of an emotional roller coaster but they played good baseball down the stretch and earned their back to back division titles. Take time to enjoy what Miguel Cabrera is doing because this has been a special, special year.
I'm still waiting for the Angels to win the pennant.
We're all behind our baseball team....
Go Get em Tigers!
World Series bound and picking up steam....
Go Get em Tigers
That's all I remember but back in 1968 I was 9 years old and that little ditty was played a LOT on WJR.
FWIW my #1 piece of sports memorabilia is a baseball signed by all the players and coaches from the 68 team. My late father was a dentist in Pontiac and one of his patients was Jim Price (back up catcher). He got the ball for my dad and my dad gave it to me.
You beat me! Well played.
this year. Not overly confident in their chances, but a top three of Verlander, Scherzer, Fister at least gives you a fighting chance in the playoffs.
Congrats, but as I'm a fan of that other Chicago baseball team, I'm not sure what you mean by pennant or October?
There is baseball beyond the regular season?
I thought there was only 162 exhibition games. It's baseball after all, a gentleman's game, and crowning a champion seems like something the peasants would do.
Tip of the hat regardless. Glad that other team from Chicago experienced no pleasure.
I remember last year around the fall someone posted about how the Michigan-Ohio State game of 1995 changed his outlook as a young man. I know most of the mgobloggers are married men, but it is amazing what this victory can do for your psyche, as a young man, as the rest of the fall plays out. Anyone who says sports are just a game - talk to me after the Ohio State game.
