OT - Mike Modano latest thoughts

Thanks for being conscious about redundancy as a lot of folks are not. I just wish your article stated he had signed and it was for the league minimum! Thanks NorthSideBlueFan for the numbers above. I'm really struggling with the Modona thing as I am a Stars fan and absolutely HATE what the management has done here. He has been a great person for DFW and my favorite athlete around here. Since they have decided that he has to go, I would love for him to go to the Wings.
Hammer will likely get matched. Too important and the Sharks are too big of players in the West to give him up. But don't expect Niemi to be a member next year if the arbitration goes his favor.
Sounds like quite the quandary then.
What are the options if they let Niemi fly the coup? This is crucial for them as I'm sure you know from the 08 run, because no help in net almost always means no Cup.
Right, I agree. I've gotten the impression that Niemi is getting some seriously bad advice from Bill Zito, his agent. When goalies are going for about half of what defenceman are being signed at, he shouldn't be playing this game...but it'll happen.
That being said, I could see them looking at Turco. It won't be realistic if Turco is asking for a lot, but it's a possibility. Crawford is supposed to be the goalie of the future...at some point, but who knows if that will happen. Huet will be stuck somewhere in the corn fields of Rockford.
cjm - What's the word on Turco these days? Obviously he isn't going back to the Stars, but do you have any idea what he is asking for/potential locations?
Mike Heika is our local NHL guy that does reliable work and seems to be way on top of things. That being said his latest report is that Turco is waiting things out.
The former Stars goalie said there is "nothing going on right now," and that "it will happen when it happens."

Interesting. I wish Turco the best no matter where he goes. Definitely a guy I root for no matter what and his rough season was pretty brutal to watch.
Someone was telling me his wife is an actress....and they would like to move to LA, and ever since the wings have shown interest San Jose has jumped in the picture....not sure if this is a real factor in his decision.
not to be too much of dick, but actress and even musician are certainly debatable.
I will vouch that she is hot though, as I stood next to her in the cab line at Bellagio about 3 years ago and she definitely looked good up close.
Modano's wife has already come out and said that shedoesn't want to come to Detroit, so I'm sure that's going to go over well.
Yeah, all of her "actress" friends are probably telling her how horrible Detroit is to live in. You know, because you have to live in Detroit year around to play in Detroit. And she'd probably get shot on her way to record her next major album.
