OT: Mike Leach

Disclaimer: this is not supposed to be a replace RR with Leach thread.

Coach Leach's K is up at the end of the year, and most (sic) would say he's the hottest thing since sliced bread right now.  The Texas game was awesome.  What do you think he does at the end of the year (aside from win a bowl game)?

He's not (yet) in the top-5 highest paid coaches of the Big 12, and I don't see Tech with quite the $$$ or resources to go into a bidding war for him.  Clemson and Tennessee will be programs looking for his style of offense for sure.  What do you guys think?

I hadn't read that. I don't know if you've ever seen Locker play since UW is horrible and isn't shown outside the NorthWest, but he's amazing. If he got his accuracy under control, he'd be Tebow-like. I'd kill for Locker at Michigan. But going back to your original comment, I really don't see Leach leaving Tech. I think he's comfortable, but money does funny things to people.

Leach is staying in Lubbock. He is building a power.  He no longer just has the quick pass.  He has a OL averaging right around 300lbs per guy.  He has skill players and lineman in droves coming to Lubbock.  He is currently working to increase the stadium size with a matching luxury box on the visitor side of the stadium to match the addition on the home side.  There's rumor that one side of the stadium may get an extra tier to raise seating from 50-55,000 to 65-75,000.  The guy just passed A&M in terms of a big name in the big12 (finally).   I wouldnt be surprised if he stays there for much less money.

Not so sure about Locker fitting under Leach. All reports on him are that he is pure terror running the ball. As for throwing... not so much. Leach likes to throw, throw, then throw some more. Jake would probably be a better fit for Rodriguez, who, when has his ideal personnel goes with the spread-option style run-play about 75% of the time.

Absolutely correct that Locker fits better w/ RR.  He would be devastating at Michigan.  Leach is the chic dark horse pick right now for UW...and rumors abound that he actually wants out of Lubbock....but he would not leave just because of Locker...however, the transition could be softened a bit because the #1 QB recruit in the country for 2010 is a kid named Heaps and he is from a burb of Seattle.  Pure passer that has mentioned being interested in playing for Leach.  He would fit perfectly in that system and would almost certainly stay home if Leach came here.

intrigued by Leach last year, during the debacle of a coaching search we had.

I can't wait to see what he does at a larger school, with better talent. (Or maybe he's actually getting really good talent at Tech, and I just don't know it).
