This is the start of the quote from the Today interview, and it is what she says after this that makes me like her attitude and her wanting to be recognized for what she herself has done. She said that she looked up to Vonn and was quick to point out that Vonn is far from done as a skier. From that interview:

"Let her have her success and let me have my own — just call me Mikaela Shiffrin.”

OT, but relevant to international sports: FIFA president just announced they're trying move the Qatar World Cup to November-January to avoid the summer heat. That would basically ruin either the World Cup, or all the European Football leagues, or some combination of the two. Kinda outraged by Qatar buying the World Cup in the first place, but moving the historic summer games to the fall to accommodate the FIFA fat cats bribes just pisses me off even more. Sorry I'm not in a position to create a thread right now, otherwise I would post links and some appropriate references to the disgusting Beijing Olympics saga in the proper place.

That's a shocking bit of news honestly.  Qatar was only chosen b/c politics and really b/c of gifts and shit they gave to the committee.  It should never have been chosen as a World Cup site.  And now they have the balls to try to move the fucking World Cup to significantly different time of year?  WTF.
