OT: Michigan Softball Open Thread. TV: BTN @ 5:30 EDT
The M Softball team is playing a double header today starting at 5:30pm on the BTN. Penn State has struggled this year so look for some strong offense from our girls.
My prediction for player of the game(s): Ashley Lane. She has been seeing the ball every well recently. I expect big numbers from her tonight.
Go Blue
And it is not OT.
but there are a few people who need professional help and might hurt themselves if I dont list an open thread as OT.
I think of it as my little contribution to society.
Those people can politely eat a dick.
M Softball is never off-topic.

Harsh, but truer words were never spoken.
Thanks for the OT tag.
Hutch was quoted as saying "Polls are for fools." Hutch only wants to be in the top 8 that make it to the W/S.
I just watched and Bree got hit in the face with a softball in warmups, has a band aid on her nose. She looks ok. Bree has really bad luck. Can someone get her a charm or something.
Bree is a scrappy player and it shows with aggressive nature. She seems like she is tough as nails.
Bree gets hurt again. Wow that kid it tough.
...just put the hurt on PSU. Clutch 0-2, 2-out RBI single to tie the game in the 6th.
Poor girl. That sounded bad. I thought it hit the bat at first with that sound. She should be wearing face protection helmet as well and maybe some forearm pad.
Bree has had so many injuries over her career. I don't like these close games. Hopefully we can finish this one off and see a little more spark in the bats in the second game.
as several teams have rose to #1 just to see them fall.
Clutch=Bree.
it looks like Chiddy gets the game ball.
Oh BTW: its 65 degrees in State College.
does Dan Kelly make a lot of mistakes. He called Ashley Lane when PSU was on defense. He thinks runners on 2nd is in "scoring position".
Runners on 2nd are considered to be in scoring position. Check your shit, fool. Or get iced.
it isnt. The fences are only 200 feet. It is a shame that you dont understand the game. In baseball the runners can lead off and get half way to 3rd and in softball the runners must hold until the release of the pitch.
Thanks, BlueHOV for allowing us to see how much of an idiot you really are.
On the scoring position issue, he's probably just importing baseball terms, assuming (wrongly, of course) that softball is just the same thing.
How is school going?
Maybe its just me but I do get annoyed that broadcasters import baseball terms. It is a very different game, as you know.
I guess I am a purest at heart.
Pretty well - hitting the home stretch of term, and remarkably, I'm actually ahead of the game in a couple places. The 15 page paper I have to write on one Greek adverb (seriously, that is what they have me doing :) ) will be a bit of a chore to hammer out, but the research has gone really well, so I should be able to wring some interesting conclusions out of it. I'm really looking forward to the onset of summer, when I'll be able to work on some long-term projects without the interferenc of as much day-to-day stuff, though.
Re: the announcers, I don't blame you. I get ticked all the time at announcers in different sports. The announcers for the hockey championship game couldn't keep straight what players were on what team, NHL announcers regularly seem to not notice when a team is on the power play, etc. etc. Just one of those curses sports fans must always face.
I wish you all the best in your studies.
Do you think you will get to AA if Michigan host a regional or super regional?
I'm certainly going to give it my best shot. I made it to town for the 2nd Tennessee game last year, and even though the result was disappointing, it was a really cool experience. Alumni Field is a great environment, and I'm sure during playoff time it was at its best. I really hope I will be able to make it back!
let me know. I will buy you a beer.

Sounds good to me! If we keep playing like this, I have to imagine we'll be hosting.
for posting this. It keeps reminding us all that we need to support our Wolverines.
Looks like the defense really settled in after that rough 1st inning. I would like to Speierman start finishing off more games, though - seems like Jordan is always in to pick up the save, which won't be so much an option next year. Any idea if we have any good talent in the pipeline behind Speierman?
Speierman just seems to get rattled early and then need some help. It looks to me like inexperience. Hopefully the platoon system that Hutch is using will help her in the long run.
Yes. We picked up Sara Driesenga, a Pitcher from perenial powerhouse Hudsonville (Grand Rapids area). Sara will probably be Michigan's Miss Softball.
Sara committed in her Sophomore year which is BEFORE coaches can contact players. Here is a link written in mar2009. Sara was born Blue. I saw her pitch a year ago and she is almost as good as JT as a Junior in HS.

I enjoyed watching the second game on BTN last might although I expected Jordan Taylor to be more dominant. She did not look happy coming off the mound after the Home Run in the 7th. Was this just an unusual outing for her as I was expecting somethinf more...Jenny Ritter? I also thought that they caught a break on that call at first otherwise that blast ties the game.
A win on the road (or in this case two on the road) is a win-just not sure if we watched a #1 performance last night on either side of the ball. Anytime they are on the BTN throw a reminder up lease and I appreciate your threads!~
