I believe I read that he didn't follow the 'normal' order for going through categories. Usually someone does "Favorite Michigan coaches for $200...$400....$600" etc but this guy apparently bounced everywhere to keep his opponents off their game while he went searching for daily doubles.

After reading the article, I likened it to someone being upset for not having the proper dress code on the golf course. He didn't do anything wrong, but Jeopardy Men got offended because it was against the great tradition

It's not because he's Asian. As an Asian myself, I kind of cringe when he and others have suggested this. The dude is a generally unlikeable guy. He comes off as cocky, arrogant and a total spaz. The way he mashes the answer button repeatedly, argues with Trebek about answers, cuts him off before he's done prompting for the next question, etc, etc... the guy's mannerisms are just annoying plain and simple. The guy is definitely smart and his strategy paid off for him, but he's easy to root against.

Conventionally, at final Jeopardy people will wager to guarantee (as much as is possible) to win by at least $1. However,  he would also set his final wager such that he would tie, meaning both he and this other person would return. The theory is he already outperformed them once - small sample size, but more than the 0 samples he has of an unknown new contestant. It could also get into their head or engender positive feelings - maybe they return the favor if they come out on top.

Arthur has said that his "bet to tie" wagers had less to do with bringing back someone he'd already played against and more to do with increasing his own chances of returning.  Usually the way his wagering worked out, he would win unless the #2 player wagered everything and got it right (which only happened once and caused the tie).

LOL I did some googling around and came across an article where a commentator likened him to the likely Chinese invasion and as a reason why we're going to be obliterated when the Chinese invade.

Part of me laughed but also part of me was sad because of this dude was serious, he is able to vote.

Also, I don't think it's a Michigan grad student.  Everything I've read thus far has called her a grad student in Ann Arbor.  AnnArbor.com didn't specify Michigan, so I'm assuming not Michigan.
