I am from MD and have rooted for them since I can remember rooting for sports and am currently a michigan student hence why Michigan for me. I called you out because everytime md gets brought up you feel the need the need to say something and while yes md riots this is the fanbase where one of the fraternities has their pledges paint their faces black and "pick cotton" as part of the pledge process so yeah, get off your high horse about fanbases.

HAHA! Look what Jim Rome had to say about these abominations:

@jimrome "Whatever the NCAA decides to do to Miami, they should double for Maryland. Those helmets prove a lack of instutional control"

It's really cool to see Edsall's sideline demeanor. (specially after watching Kelly's explosion two days ago) He seems to pat his players on the back and positively reinforce them even when they screw up. I'd give my 1000% to someone like that if I was playing.

It was 4th & 4.  http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=312480120&period=4

If that pass is incomplete, Maryland goes into the Victory formation.

As it turned out, Maryland had to kick off to Miami w/ 39 seconds left.  Still a likely win, but Maryland DB Cameron Chism actually hurt his team's chances with that play (beyond the PBU).

i think the helmets could be ok on their own. its a pretty cool homage to the state flag. i also saw them wearing helmets in warmups that had a turtleshell pattern on them that were pretty cool

Look, Edsall is trying to create enthusiasm for Maryland football, and Marylanders are insanely proud of their flag.  Does it play in Michigan?  No, but it doesn't have to.  It has to generate interest from Marylanders themselves.  The University of Maryland isn't in a state like Michigan, where people have an inherent interest in college athletics.  People don't care about them despite their solid performance over the past few years (and a team that this year might even be able to win their division in the ACC).

For Maryland as a state and a program, the uniforms work and are no worse than what Oregon did when they first came out.  Remember how stupid the "feathered" look and metalic shoulderpad look appeared when they came out.  This is just their thing and it works for them.

They don't get the luxury of having a national brand and a solid uniform identity like Michigan does with the winged helmet.  If this helps advance a brand and get Marylanders interested in college football, then great.  I hope it works, since Edsall is really serious about getting Maryland kids dreaming of going to/playing for Maryland the way Michigan is about their kids.

For those of you hating on the MD uniform they spent like 10 minutes on sc talking about the uniforms, that is the most publicity I've ever seen MD get so the uniforms were successful. Plus it was all about pride in the state and us Marylanders love our state and our flag so it works for the fanbase

I actually like a few of these newer jerseys coming out. I actually liked Georgia's and a couple others the past few years. That being said, there's just as many I think look horrendous and this was sure one of them. This was just ridiculous. Maybe in the XFL or CFL those could fly.

I'm a proud Maryland resident but those uniforms were pretty ugly. The flag was too big. They could have shrunk it or something, or put a patch on their uniforms with the flag. The Terps uniforms to me will always have Terps written in cursive. You aren't Oregon junior. You're Maryland.
