OT: MGoUser MeganGoBlue Pitches a Gem.
MGo User, MeganGoBlue pitched one hell of a game for her team. She pitched 4.1 innings giving up 3 ER in 5 hits. She struck out 4 but walked 5. She was the winning pitcher in a mercy rule win.
I cannot identify which D1 team she pitches for because of security purposes. She has NOT identified that team so I will not either. It is awesome to have "one of our own" pitching so well. Congrats Megan and we are all proud of you.
But I have to ask, Whats up with the 5 walks? /s
Congratulations to her!!!
Wait, is that justingoblue's old lady?
I always thought so.
+10,000 MGoPoints for the weekend. Keep up the good work.
Yes, she is the girlfriend. Thanks for your support, she probably has ten times the fans she would have without this place.
I think she's going to do a bit of a scouting report on Temple later today, so stay tuned if you're interested in that.
My wife is way more athletic than me. I've had to learn to simply accept she will beat me at any sport where being tall doesn't help. (Yeah, she's tiny.)
I'm stronger and faster than she is, and not just in a "I'm a guy and she's a girl way". However, she would probably win in most finesse games, and she's just good at games in general (she has every record on my free cell app, for example). So yea, she might be able to take me in a fair amount of sporting-type competitions.
Fantastic! Softball is always entertaining. I would respect Jenny Finch even if she weren't hot.
Seconded on significant other being more athletic. My avitar is my wife and she is also 1000% in better shape than i am as the OP can attest having spent the afternoon with both of us in New Orleans. I go to the gym every freaking day and if i'm real careful with what i eat and bust my ass for an hour or two I might....just might....lose 1/2 pound or so in a week.
She on the other hand can run 5K's without barely breaking a sweat and is starting her own fitness website.
Yeah, I'm in a similar boat. I'm an everyday gym person, but I just lift weights. My wife, OTOH, has run multiple marathons and is always in great shape. She ran the LA Marathon 8 months after giving birth. And she looks a lot better in a bathing suit than I do.
I'm assuming 99% of men look worse than their significant other in a swimsuit (well, straight men at least. I would guess with gay couples it's 50/50).
A recent survey found that 50% of significant others are better looking than the other half.
Thirded on the significant other. I was a mediocre high school soccer player and 1 time IM broomball champ. My fiance started 4 years D1 soccer and then played professionally briefly. Unless I get to pull the "f this, I'm just going to pick you up" card I routinely get beat at most athletic endevors.
I think we have different stats. This is what I have from her game.
5IP 2H 1R 1ER 3BB 6SO 20BF
3AB 2H 2R 1BB
Your stats in the OP appear to be from their mercy rule win last night, not this morning. She did pitch that game and accumulate those stats, but the stat line in this post was her stat line this morning.
CBS. It is quite possible that CBS Sportsline is wrong. My appologies to Megan if they are wrong.
Thanks Justin for the correction. We certainly want to give credit where credit is due.
they just didn't update or labeled something incorrectly. It's really not a big deal; like I said, she did pitch the game in the OP, it just wasn't the game from today.
Like these BB numbers a little better MGS? Haha.
Big congrats to Megan. Good to see one of us get off the comp and get on to the field to kick some butt!
As the Japanese would say, she brings honor to the board . . . .
Nice comeback after that close game last weekend.
Wishing you a very successful season!
Congrats!
and that her team won by mercy rule and giving her stat line I beat someone will figure it out. But congrats to her and her team.
This thread probably doesn't have enough information, but the info is scattered on the site; MGoSoftball figured out who she is, as did clarkiefromcanada. BlueDragon also knows, but I'm actually friends with him on Facebook so I doubt that counts.
Speaking for both of us, we're not super privacy nuts or anything. I would imagine at some point there will be a fair amount of people who read softball posts that know exactly who she is, and we're okay with that. I'd just rather it be limited to people who take the time to follow either my posts that shamelessly brag, or the softball writing she'll be doing in the future, which I have now convinced her to do (HT: BISB, she has enough points to post her own previews of her former/future M opponents).
As an shorter way of saying all that, I realize you're correct and I'm okay with that. I just don't want to make it too easy for someone to start posting pictures of her or revealing other personal information.
know I was't being that guy about this, just was letting the OP know with all that was written and knowing what you have said before like they played Temple ect. That someone could find out is all. I am curious but not curious enough to do that much research. And congrats to your girlfriend this is very cool IMO.
I had no problem with anything you posted. Generally speaking, I think I have an okay memory of other users, and you're the guy that gave me my last diary idea, so I wouldn't jump to the "being that guy" conclusion unless you gave me a really good reason to.
As a side note, her MGoName is megangoblue, so MGoSoftball didn't reveal anything she hadn't herself (wow, that's a lot of MGo's).
And thanks. She'll be on here later to post some kind of thank you and give some insight on the Temple game that M softball has scheduled for tomorrow.
I found out, and was just not wanting it to get out if you didnt want it, cause it wasn't as hard as you think. Anyway I would never say it, and I love softball so it is a win- win.
I appreciate it. I don't actually think it would be hard, per say, just that it would take enough effort (two Google searches would be my bet) to stop some of the people who might troll with that information.
Either way, I think it's been worth it so far. I know softball doesn't have the following, but how cool would it be to have a poster who plays MAC football give his thoughts on an upcoming opponent that he played OOC?
Yeah, just an FYI -- and not to be a creeper -- but I already figured it out. So you're right, people may be able to find out, but really this is all public information anyways.
It's not like we're talking social security numbers or home addresses, it's sports statistics and press releases. She'll chime in at some point, but her name was said on the radio >100 times this weekend. Especially if she goes through with doing some softball writing like she's said, I don't think there's an expectation of absolute privacy, she's a public figure in a sense.
I just don't want to see that get abused, which is why neither of us has said point-blank her full name or school at this point.
This thread does have enough information fyi. I did it just to see if i could and had no previous knowledge of the situation. It probably took me 5 minutes and I found the statline referenced in this thread thrown by a pitcher named Megan today.
But there were three such performances by women named "Megangoblue."
Also, I never specified if megangoblue was her first or last name. Gotta throw people off the scent.
America: Yea, the power of Google and all that. Pretty incredible...
lets keep this underground. She is a great pitcher and deserves some Mgo Love. Its not to often that we get D1 Athletes actually post here.
Hence why I didn't give any specifics. I just did it in response to the "probably not enough information here" comment above because I was bored today. Yes Justin, google is a powerful drug.
That's actually untrue. There are a few known D1 athletes and plenty of former D1 athletes who post on here.

me is what I should have said.
right person I actually remember her from her high school days I think. I live right around there.
WAIT JUST A MINUTE! There are girls on this blog?!
Obviously. At least 4% of the blog according to a recent* poll
http://mgoblog.com/diaries/mgoblog-survey-results
*April 2011
Speaking of recent polls, did Brian ever release the results of the poll on how the blog feels about the B1G division names?

Again, everyone, thanks for all the positive feedback. I've been a very proud boyfriend today, and hope she's consistently making me feel like this (about softball) until she graduates. She's moving venues right now, but they should be at their hotel very soon and I'll make sure she gets here to say something about the kind words, and write up her views on Temple.
Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to your softball posts.
Thank you all very much for the support! I really appreciate it and it is nice to see so many new fans. And now (because I have so many more points than justingoblue) I will write a quick preview about Temple. Thanks again!
Congrats.
Yes, congrats (and I hope justingoblue doesn't get jealous of your new point total).
I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm pretty sure AAU refers to basketball and I have not played that sport since eighth grade.
Consider this me making fun of you. Sarcasm meter = broken.
