OT: MGoDog Roll Call

Submitted by JeepinBen on

It's finally here! Every dog's least favorite weekend of the year. Remember - shelters see almost TWICE the volume this time of year with the fireworks and dogs freaking out and running away. Take care of your pets! Let's see your MGoDogs and hope that everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July.

Here's Maize in her natural position - messing up the bed. This weekend she'll spend with her Thundershirt on either under the bed or in the back of the closet.

A lot of people think he's a lab mix, but he's a mix of Staffordshire/German Shepherd/Husky/ other. We did a DNA test after we started thinking he was a Malinois mix. Maybe that "other" on the DNA test has some Lab in it.

Post a pic of yours if you can. I'd like to see the similarities.

but my three dogs are in good hands with the sitter at our house. it's tough on them, and I never really understood the infatuation with blowing stuff up.

thanks for the PSA

My in-laws are supposed to check in on what remains of my Cats tomorrow. We are up north at the moment, Romulus stupidly did not enact a fireworks ban due to the dry conditions, and they will undoubtedly be a bit freaked out. They will consequently be furious with us on Sunday when we get back.

2 dogs: a black lab and a Neopolitan Mastiff. Unfortunately they're not with us this weekend. Couldn't haul them up to NY to go to the lake house, so they're at a boarding facility this weekend.

I just bought one today. It's a black lab male puppy. Will be 7 weeks on Friday, when we will pick it up. Kids are ecstatic. I haven't even seen it, just mailed off a deposit check.

I have a boxer and a Catahoula Leopard. Both dogs freak out and bark at the fireworks. All we can do is let them on the bed where they cuddle up under the blankets. It's pitiful tbh.

I was just outside with my dog and he had a turtle head poking, then 'pop' - the smallest firework goes off a mile away. He gets that turd back in there and runs back to the house with his tail between his legs. This is gonna be a good weekend for him.

This is Woodson, no need to share how I got the name. She turns three on July 23. Might be the one thing I unconditionally love more that Michigan football. The fun thing about her formal name through the AKC is "The Legendary Number 2, Charles Woodson", had to go with something that no one else would have previously had.

And before anyone asks "The Legandary Number 21, Desmond Howard" will be coming, but since I prefer girls she'll be called Dezzie.

We live in the boonies so the pit bull goes on her cage and sleeps while we party all night.

Pit bulls are one of the top dogs for temperament.

My boys are ignoring the annual game of Gun Shots or Fireworks this year in Chicago. I think they've finally realized it's nothing to worry about. Happy about that.

My dog, Doc, isn't scared of much.  He's treed bears, bitten beavers (literally) and heard countless shotgun blasts over his head while bird hunting.  But he's sacred AF of fireworks.  We're heading out backpacking far away from any festivities this weekend.

Wikipedia:   Its principal value is as a chemical restraint in hyper or fractious animals. However it does not relieve anxiety and some believe it may make anxiety worse in the long run if used in an anxious animal (for example, thunderstorm phobias).

5mg pills from a vet........1/2 for a 60-pound dog will just make the dog very mellow........and then sleep.
