It probably depends who the elected officials are. Politics aside, states are hurting right now for cash and they can't print money like the feds, they'll look for money wherever they can find it.

...how redundant it is to put "discuss" at the end of a post that has a comment field and is posted in a blog that has lively discussion?

I was looking for a discussion about whether blogs are fair game for taxation.  And whether taxing bloggers would make the Bleacher Report types a bit more responsible like MGoBlog types.  No Tea Party grumbling intended, for you politically hyper-sensitive types.

states and municipalities have to post notice before they can levy a new tax, and it usually must pass a supermajority vote at the state level.  my point is you would hear people complaining about it before it passed.  Kind of like the ice cream truck rolling down my street.
