OT - MGoBlog Call to arms (fundraising for a cause)

Submitted by UMfan21 on
My buddy runs an Oregon blog page called "Addicted to Quack" and one of the users on that page recently had a baby with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. To support their fellow blogger, they are auctioning off some Chip Kelly autographed goods and taking donations. While I don't expect anyone here to want Chip Kelly autographed gear, I thought perhaps this might be a good cause for the mgofaithful to rally around and support bloggers from another community. I could not imagine one of us having to go through something like that... I would be open to any sort of donation plan we could come up with...even if everyone threw in ten bucks somehow, maybe we could show the Oregon fans how charitable and caring UofM fans are. Sorry, if this is not an appropriate topic. It's my first new topic on this blog, but my heart goes out to young children who are dealt a bad hand, and this is a very painful disease. If anyone is interested and could help me plan an easy way for everyone to chip in a little, I am open to suggestions. Link: http://www.addictedtoquack.com/2010/4/8/1412319/little-gorby-auctions-up

I guess it's technically off topic, but awesome to try to raise money for kids in need. I once raised money through firstgiving.com. They have agreements with a ton of non-profits and charge a very small percentage vs. other fundraising sites/organizations.

I guess what I was thinking was to have a trustworthy person (Brian or someone well established here?) create a PayPal site and we could donate in. Then we could just send one lump sum over to the ATQ blog from the MGoBlog community. I just thought one lump sum from one blog to another might be more symbolic.
