OT- Mgo movie advice: The Raid Redemption

Submitted by NorthSideBlueFan on
If you like action, violence, martial arts as well as some cool special effects go see this movie. Subtitles aren't my favorite, BUT they are well worth it to see the ass kicking that happens in this movie.
It's probably the best violence I've seen on film since Man on Fire (which is currently on HBOGO if you want to re-watch it.) Hopefully, this will help some of you with your movie selections in the coming weeks. EDIT- The Scott Glenn version of Man on Fire is on HBOGO, the Denzel version which is much more intense and violent is not. /Sad panda

I recently watched Humboldt County and Brothers Bloom. Both of which had good, but somewhat mixed reviews. I really liked both.

I'll have to see about checking out Raid Redemption, although I don't usually go for the heavy action flicks.

I am usually not a huge action movie guy, unless it's completely mindless and I can mock it (ie Steven Seagal movies), but from the trailer it looks pretty good.

The trailer for this movie gets me very excited, as does the music. Mike Shinoda, a member of Linkin Park, did the soundtrack/film score, and i love his style of music. Sad thing is that the movie only had a limited release this past weekend. Hopefully it opens up to a larger audience and I can see it here in Ann Arbor.

EDIT: Apologies for not embedding, but this is an example of the type of music I hope the movie has, and will have, based on what I've read.

My wife dragged me to see Hunger Games this past weekend.  I was quite amazed at how there didn't seem to be a single original idea in the entire film.  It was like a mash-up of Running Man, reality TV, Romeo & Juliet, some Margaret Atwood, Harry Potter, and Disney's Mulan.  Mildly entertaining though.
