My sister is having twin boys, and wants to decorate their room in a Michigan football theme. My wife and I have been looking through a lot of websites and stores, and we can't find what she's looking for. She wants it centered around "the team, the team, team" and have a Bo Schembechler image over each crib. The room is pretty large, so size is definitely an option. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated, since they only have about 2 months left.

I have to agree (hopefully without offending).  As the father of two little ones, there is a VERY good chance that having Bo's image anywhere in the baby's room could do permanent harm (exaggerating, but no really).  Unless he's their grandfather, I would avoid it.  Denard's smiling face, on the other hand, is a very different story . . .

Don't look for 'stock' stuff that you can find anyhwere.  Create something that is truly special.

A 'faux painter' is your friend.  Have the painter come in and paint what you want on the wall.  (like a mural)

I'm in the process of having the the locker room be painted on my wall in a corner, in real dimensions, so it looks like a real locker room.  The current plan is to have four lockers, with four jersey's hanging with each of our names on it. (wife and 2 kids)

I also have 'the team, the team, the team' going on a wall along with a couple other sayings..

Team 106

Those who stay will be champions, etc

He is also taking my old white fridge, and painting it into a michigan helmet.

It's more expensive, no doubt, but I think worth it.

Although a maize & blue color scheme seems like a fun idea, I'd be careful about turning their room into a shrine for a university (and doubly so a football team).  Surely the kids will pick up and your enthusiasm as they age and grow into it on their own but too much too soon might scar them and they could rebel by becoming Spartans or Buckeyes.

As designers like to say, less is more.

If it were me, I'd probably go with maize-ish and blue-ish stripes on the walls.  But use more muted colors than true Maize and Blue.  Here's the dorky father in me coming out:  Studies say that softer colors tend to promote brain growth (or something like that).  Have her focus on doing whatever it takes to make those little rascals smart enough to blow the socks of the Michigan admissions people 18 years from now.  That way, the family will all get tickets easier!

I would do khaki on 3 walls.  Then a 10 inch navy horizontal stripe about chair rail height around those 3 walls.  Then one wall (preferably the smallest) a nice maize (no stripe).  Yellows and greens are the hardest to gauge from samples, so test it on your wall.  My son has the mini fatheads of Charles W and Desmond in his stripe (just a few).  Or, "Beat Ohio" would be cool.  I wouldn't go with giant Bo head, but that is me....

Also, PINTEREST!!  There are cute kid room ideas on there (probably all LSU and Bama, but you'll get the idea)   edit:  just saw a cute room on Pinterest.  Search for "Michigan guest room".  You don't have to join, just search that....

What is she naming them?  Trey and Tim?  Desmond and Charles?  Do tell...

In the room that is now my son's room, we actually went with three neutral walls and one wall plus the ceiling is maize and the trim for the half wall is blue. We did find, however, Michigan-themed switch plates for the room as well. We also went with maize and blue shelving (found some stuff at IKEA that was more or less correct for color) for the toys and books in there.

We also had my sister - who is a professional illustrator - do an outline of the "M" on the one maize wall, which works out great on several levels given that my son's name also happens to start with an "M".

"Funny isn't it, how naughty dentists always make that one fatal mistake."

a litlle pricey, but unique.

Voldemort totally needs to get his nephews the burp cloth on Etsy that says, "Sorry I spit up, but I thought I saw a Buckeye"

I recently became a grandfather.  The first piece of clothing my grandson wore was a Michigan cap.  He is now nine months old and wore a maize outfit for every Michigan game this past year.  It is important to raise kids right.

As others have suggested, a faux painter can paint any design you want in any color combination and often without breaking the bank.  You might also check online and see how others have decorated bedrooms using motifs from other universities just to give you some ideas.

along the lines of some of these suggestions, for instance, LSA had good ideas as did some others.  not that tough.  try a neutral wall color with a maize/blue double strip all arond the top of the room, say a foot from the ceiling.   we hung skins (bear, deer, etc) in the boys' room and have some of my old football helmets as props.   works well.

make a moblie of winged helmets for each of the lads.

and make sure you buy them 'buckeye' diapers, so they'll know from birth the correct protocol for ohio.
