OT -- Meyer sleazy recruiting rumor busted.

Submitted by bjk on

I haven't seen this posted outside MGolicious. (Currently invisible. See this thread (TIMMMAAY), particularly, this comment (octal9).) Per story by Brian at The Sporting Blog, Urban Meyer never had a conversation with a then-OSU-bound Sharrif Floyd involving God, dreaming and his willingness to die on the sideline for Floyd. Since this story appeared here back on January 15, along with the appropriate source links, I thought it fair to retract it here also.

According to Brian, the story started out on an OSU fansite and was given its stamp of legitimacy by the South Carolina Rivals site. Once there, of course, it was fair game for posting here and everywhere. Brian faults the SC Rivals site for all of this.

I am not a Meyer lover myself. I have despised the man since his classlessness in promoting himself and UF for the NC in '06 forced Lloyd Carr to make a rare public rebuke, all of which led to my particular joy in the outcome of the Cap One '08 Bowl. Since I so particularly enjoy hating Meyer, I thought it only fair to remove this particular strike against him from the table.

it's all about

the NARRATIVE the NARRATIVE the NARRATIVE.

@ Crime Reporter: He's sort of like Woody to me. I enjoy beating him on the field and on the recruiting trail. So lately, I have to admit, he's been bringing joy into my life. Especially since his ultimatim to Dorsey brought him to AA.

Urban Cryer

:

don't forget "Urban Meyer Wiener." (Was this from Maize'n'Brew?)

After the whole Urban Cryer debacle and the "I'm taking an indeterminate amount of time off" to "I'll be back next year" to "I'll be coaching the spring game" to "I'm still recruiting" to "I took a few days to reevaluate after having taken weeks and called a press conference, nothing has changed" I've determined him to be a drama queen.

on entering Providence he had to choose between reverting to "God Shammgod" and undergoing an expensive legal process.

This has two alarming corollaries:

1.) A name-change is "an expensive legal process."

2.) The Prime Mover of All Things can't afford to pay for it.

Here in NM, it is about $100 for a civil filing fee, about $125 for the newspaper publication charge, and either a minimal attorneys fee or better yet free simple forms for a do it yourself process, including the 5 minute hearing with the judge. I am convinced sham would have persuaded the judge the name change is a good idea.
