The Gazette article - (HERE) - gives you an idea of what there was in terms of offense in this particular game:

Walter Johnson had 75 yards rushing, 86 yards passing.

Magruder had 94 yards rushing, 22 yards passing.

Freezing rain/sleet/snow mixture, if I remember it right.  Sat shivering in North Face Gore-Tex gear, worst weather for a game in Ann Arbor I've experienced.  And for those who are wondering, no, the student section was not full. . .although it almost certainly out-performed the rest of the stadium in %age of tickets used.

I got there late but there were empty seats everywhere.  Saturday's "111k" crowd left me wondering how sparse the crowd would need to be for UM to admit it was under 100k.  Also, Purdue had a long pass play that the receiver either dropped or caught then fell down, which would have likely meant a loss.  The 1995 and 1996 Purdue games were the nadir of offense in the Carr era.

This is awesome. Both teams should have shirts made to commemorate that game. It's the rarest final score within a reasonable range of football scores. Congratulations to both teams!

This is unrelated but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a video of the short Dhani Jones' "Lets get fired up" video they've played at the games recently. It makes me laugh everytime.

Sounds like a great game! Reminds me of a loss back in high school by a score of 6-5 in a horrid rain/sleet/snow storm with all three FGs coming on fumbled snaps followed by three runs for no gain and short kicks.

The recap indicates it was even worse than I thought.  Gutless football dot com.  Iowa's points came off two 27-yard field goals in the first half.  Penn State got first and goal twice but got zero points.  Their two safeties came on a botched snap that Iowa's punter kicked out the back of the endzone on purpose, and an intentional safety after Iowa intercepted a Michael Robinson pass at the 2, returned it to the 8, then moved backwards to their own 1 on three plays (not counting a penalty where they were so close to the endzone that zero yards were marched off), and then the punter took a knee.  Snickers time!

Having seen just the board title I knew this was going to be about my Alma Mater. During my years in school I believe we won 4 games, all of them my senior year. I went to one football game. It was miserable. Suffice to say we're more of soccer and lacrosse school than football. Those teams actually have tryouts.

And if it makes it better (or much, much worse), WJ's fight song is to the tune of Across the Field. Thankfully I had enough beer in college to completely forget how it goes.
