OT - Mark Buehrle, Play of the Year?
Mark Buehrle, Chicago White Sox pitcher, makes potentially the play of the Major League season. I know it's early, but I could not believe it. I was in left field and had no idea what was going on or how he got him out. It might be a stretch to declare Play of the Year, but it will be on the list.
that was an outstanding play. but i hate the white sox...
Given that we're almost 75% through our FIRST DAY of the baseball season, I'll go on record as saying that's the "best play of the year"
Will the title stick ...? I doubt it
Cosign: Fuck the White Sox
There is a reason he wins gold gloves every year.
Because Kenny Rogers retired?
Kenny Rogers was the shit.
I'm really surprised that he is not a pitching coach. Rick Knapp is a great one, but I was definitely hoping that the Tigers would offer Rogers the job (or at least with a minor league team).
He was a good pitcher but he made even better chicken. Newman and I were so bummed when that place shut down.
You mean "The gambler?"
I had no idea he played baseball too ...
How much more awesome can Mark Buehrle get? It's ridiculous! It's immeasurable! Not even a mullet could make this guy cooler.
He's even properly hydrated at all times!

It's almost as good as this play from Daniel Murphy last year. Loretta was safe, but after making that play, he deserved the out.
I left work early today to catch the start of the tigers game, and I just happenned to turn to that game right at that at bat when I got home. Amazing play, I didn't believe what I saw.
Yes. I had no idea what happened until a few minutes later when they finally showed the replay on the jumbotron. I mean, he is a great defender, but this goes beyond great defense.
It's too early to tell, but this looks like it could be a great year for the White Sox. if Peavy is a good number 2 pitcher, and several other pitchers pan out, it could be pretty good.
Since the involuntary Kung Fu kick was due to his awesome ninja skills, he had no choice but to chase down the errant baseball and do a reverse five-hole flip.
Waaaay better than one of the 1,000 centerfielder-layout catches that will be shown on ESPN Web Gems this year...
I was watching it live. Never seen anything like it. Unbelievable play.
That play doesn't translate into any fantasy stats for me, but that was terrific.
That was... (deep breath)... a good... play. That is the last nice thing I will ever say about anything associated with the White Sox.
I must say that was retarded.
That play is pretty badass.
Everyone went nuts after the play as they should have. I normally only go to the south side to see the Tigers play but couldnt pass up a shot at opening day when it was so nice out..
Twas a smart decision. Sure, one half my face is sunburned, but it was worth every skin cell.
followed by a Sean Griffin delivery! Money!
He is one if the most underated guys in baseball and is a standup guy. White Sox are going to be very good this year.
FA's post on the Vanderbilt Pitcher is better (IMHO)
Out of pure grit, yes. But in terms of athleticism, got to give Buehrle the nod.
Yeah, I agree. Buehrle had the successful kick save, then the touch on the glove. That was just magnificent. What Williams did was impressive in overcoming pain. Buehrle was skill and finesse. It might have won on the glove flip alone. That was amazing.
I could do that.
You were IN left field? Wow, I didn't realize Juan Pierre posted on MGoBlog. That's almost as awesome as Buehrle's play.
I felt it was safe to assume that, as fans, we all know when we say we are "on the fifty yard line" or "the south endzone" or even "left field" we are talking about the stands. I'll make sure to clarify for you though in the future.
Thanks in advance for future clarifications. I originally assumed that you were in the stands but all your talk about not knowing what was going on made me think it was Juan Pierre talking.
but it happened during opening day in a baseball season. not exactly the biggest of stages. dont get me wrong, it was a phenomenal play but with the amount of upcoming games(nba playoffs, rest of baseball season, WORLD CUP) i dont see it staying at the top. too many opportunities. even tonight, if heywards half court shot goes in, it would be the play of the year instead of this.
if my aunt had nuts, she'd be my uncle.
