OT - Machete

Submitted by Geaux_Blue on

Comes out September 3rd - could be ridiculously camp or they might try to make it a new Desperado. Either way it's a great start to a football season.

Best first week of September ever!

something that elicits substance and "news" is fine - there are a variety of irreverent tangents that have popped up in the past two weeks. what's more, stories with a baseline of personal stories has a "CRex" standard. but when it's something that's just irreverent and off-topic for the sake of OT represents the RCMB'ness we're supposed to avoid. that's all.

Okay, that's your call I guess. I know we'll all be busy talking footbaw during the season, I just hope we've still got a place to goof off and go OT/meme crazy in our downtime during the season. I understand not having it on the main board, though.

Also, many apologies for yet another of the board-ethics thread transitions. It's anarchy around here these days. Anarchy!

just trying to do it the way Brian wants so no biggy - an OT board, whether official or unofficial, might be a good way to make this clear. the problem, though, would be constantly moving them over, etc. who knows.

I'm not sure I see the difference between something "irreverent and off-topic for the sake of OT" and this. Though if I think hard enough about it, I bet I could find some connection between Machete and U-M.

The difference being, I like posts like this. (I mean, we'll get the latest I spent too much time on my calculator analyzing player position battles, with analysis that will have no bearing on the season front paged...and I hardly think that's really pertinent either.  But I don't object to it.).

is just that this could be considered "News," similar to the CPR post. something that is the stream-of-consciousness musings would probably not qualify. this isn't because i disliked his post fwiw.

perfect example: very often you will see posts where it digresses into pictures of "chicks." those, or threads like them, are often deleted bc they're just... filler. i dunno, it's always something community opinion can voice itself on - i know i've brought back posts others removed bc people were interested and it wasn't all that "worthless"

I didn't even see/know what was in the CPR post.  It may have a perfectly reasonable delete. Have no feelings either way.  That's why I stuck to this post, which seems WAY OT too, but filled with delicious goodness.

And if we're taking votes, I like threads with pictures of chicks.  ;-) But that's another one I'm not going to win.

But I don't need to see it. I wasn't questioning your judgment. Just wondering how OT posts I like, like this, might be differentiated in "the purge" of the season.

Even though he said through the bowl game. Because I'm not thinking this basketball season is going to be one we want a lot of discussion about. Because it's not going to be happy talk. I respect the purity, but at some points it's going to cost hits (how many "our basketball team sucks!!!...they're young, give them a chance!!" threads can one read?). And I'm not sure it's as easy to bring back the right level of fun to the posts as it is to cut them out.

But definitely NSFW. Sigh, I'll miss these posts when the season starts (Even if it seems some won't).

Go for the mayhem, stay for the hot chicks (or is that the other way around?). Because the only problem with that trailer is not enough Jessica Alba-

The link seems to just take you back to this page.

And for those who might try, you have to be a YouTube member to see this trailer, if you copy the link.

When looking at the picture on the OP's vid before I press play I can't help but think "Jeff Fahey dowsn't always drink beer, but when he does....he prefers Dos Equis."

Three people from Lost: Jeff Fahey, Cheech Marin, and Michelle Rodriguez.  Yay.  I think the rest of the cast should also be pretty good.  That movie looks pretty awesome.  I love that Machete's first appearance was in Spy Kids.
