So I am out in irvine this week because our other office has an ISO audit at the end of the week. The office is on the approach path for John Wayne Airport, so I took the opportunity to do a little planewatching (what can I say, I'm a plane nut). So imagine my surprise as I see this coming in for a landing.
OT? - An M-Go Airplane
We're interviewing Lane Kiffin!!! /s
Seriously, search the board (if the search function worked) and you'll find lots of references to folks following this plane or one like to try to determine where DB was going to find a new coach.
I was thinking about that as I saw the plane coming in for a landing. I was thinking that we were fairly happy with Hoke, Mattison and Borges. Maybe there is another coaching void that needs to be filled. Or maybe it is here for another reason. I saw one of the limo drivers holding up a sign that said, "National Academy of Science" on it, so maybe a Professor was flown here. Who knows. At any rate, I thought it was pretty cool.
There's a plane that doesn't need to be paid much attention to again for some time...
Is it odd that the only reason I know of John Wayne Airport is because of flight tracker and some great coaching search or recruiting quest in years past?
Owned by big-time U-M supporter Rich Rogel, co-chair of the Michigan Difference campaign. He lets university execs use it sometimes, especially on trips to China where he has a lot of business interests. It seems to get a mention around these parts every once in a while.
That plane will forever haunt my dreams. Nonstop tracking it all for nothing during the coaching search brought out the deep down, dark, stalker tendencies in me...
At least you can still see the F5 paint on your key.
There is only one question that matters right now: was that plane seen taking off or landing in or near Baton Rouge, LA?
Also, has anybody seen the Domino's jet anytime recently? They may be trying to use the M jet to draw our attention away from where they really are.
Yes... back in January.
DB has to be back tonight in AA because he's scheduled to speak at 7pm at the B School?
did he actually go to baton rouge and california or was this just made up. That's my question.
DB was witnessed getting off the Dominoe's pizza plane that arrived from Baton Rouge last winter.
But did he arrive by way of Palo Alto???
the Dominoes plane flew from Ann Arbor to Latrobe, Pa, overnight to Chicago. Chicago to Scotsdale a couple days in Scotsdale with a side trip to Las Vegas. Then flew to Dallas, Baton Rouge and Ann Arbor.
Latrobe--rumored to have spoke with Tom Bradley
Scottsdale--Gruden, Hoke etc
Las Vegas--Hoke, etc.
Dallas--coaches convention was going on that weekend
I've always figured DB met with Hoke in Vegas, possibly Scottsdale as thats where the national championship was played.
Remember DB ruled Harbaugh out pretty early in the process.
It was about 30 minutes ago (roughly 12:45 PST)
it's been to every road game this year save MSU (for obvious distance reasons)
Shoudln't have been a surprise. You've been a member here long enough.
I swear that plane has been photographed more than the Wright Flyer.
That plane needs a new a paint job.
That plane is a Lear 60 its typically used for Medical Transport flights. Coaches and DB are usually on other planes not so obviosly painted.
I would have called it a Lear jet but I realize there are more than just Lears in the business jet market. That would be like calling all Russian planes MiGs (they have Suck-hoi and Yack-o-lev and Tupolev).
that you would mention RUSSIAN aircraft, particularly the MiG, MIKOYAN... Hmm.... .
OUR WINGS GOT WINGS!
To chat with Payton? (wishful thinking)
No more pizza tracker, plz.
I didn't mean to open up so many old wounds, I just thought it was cool to see this plane in Southern California.
bunch here, eh? No sweat - appreciate your pictures and your aviation interest as well.
