OT - Lucas and Summers returning
Just saw on ESPN that both Lucas and Summers are returning. I thought lucas was going to after the injury but i was hoping summers would leave. Oh well.

what Michigan has coming back, I think it is a safe bet that we will struggle next year. I can't see Michigan beating MSU with or without Lucas and/or Summers.
With that said, I am going to rationalize to myself that it's better that they stay so that MSU will be more inexperienced for 2011-2012.
MSU bball should be called the Buffalo Bills of CBB. I'm not saying that I wouldn't love to experience their recent success, but they've been to final four 6 time in 12 years and won one title. Their one title only came about after K Mart broke his leg, that Cincy team was gonna go all the way if it wasnt for that. The Buffalo Spartans. Dont care about them
or maybe the East Lansing Bills
that there are FOUR teams in the Final Four, 1 championship in 6 trips isn't as bad as you want to make it out to be.
Winning one title negates the comparison to the Buffalo Bills.
I think the Indianapolis Colts is a better comparison.
much better, but i don't hate the colts...i hate the bills so it just made more sense to me
you a pats, jets, or 'phins fan?
from birth...and even happier to be one now
I too believe we will struggle next year. I think a lot of young players will get the opportunity to play and gain some experience. With Summers and Lucas returning hopefully their younger players don't play and are essentially freshman on 2011-2012 and we roll them.
We also won't lose a single person from 2010 to 2011. Not only will MSU be quite inexperienced, UM will be very experienced
Don't get me wrong: we're a better team with Manny.
Yet, that being said, maybe the players gel?
I wouldn't be stunned if we finished next season with a similar if not better record than this season. We have a lot of role players coming back, and if someone can step up, we could be more dangerous than people think...
if we finished next season with a similar if not better record than this season.I would consider a record similar to this past season to be a year in which Michigan struggled. However, you are correct. It is possible that the team will be better. I'm not as optimistic as you, but I'd be happy to be wrong.
is going to be reaaallllllly good next year.
There, I said it, now I suppose I will feel the wrath.
you will definitely get negbanged, but you're right. MSU will probably start the season at #1 or #2
I don't think anybody is going to freak out because you think that MSU will be good. It's true.
I don't think we will be on their level next year, but in 2011-2012 I think we have a chance to close the gap somewhat.
I'm giving you +1 on that because of the positivity, but it's not like Izzo is slowing down at all with recruiting. Yeah they'll be "young" in 2011-2012, but Roe, Green, and Lucious will be seniors, and the ridiculous Appling, Payne, Byrd, Gauna class will all be sophomores. It's not like they're hurting for talent (they're no Kentucky, but they're definitely at the top of the Big Ten).
Summers should have left. He is inconsistent as it is, but was starting to gain hype based on his tourney play. His value peaked IMO. Once he goes back to his inconsistent self next year he won't touch the lottery, which he could have if he left now.

I'm a Spartan fan who started reading posts on the board because you guys do a great job of tracking recruits. Been following the board for over a year, and this is my first post.
Most on this board felt Manny should stay because he needs work. Here you say Summers was inconsistent, so he should go. Do you really think NBA scouts don't know about his consistency? Don't you believe another year could help with his consistency?
