Can't see Miles going for this.
OT- LSU going with purple field turf?
Vandeleigh Industries??? See Seinfeld, Jerry Circa 1998.
I wonder what George has to say about this?
"Does the Coliseum still exist?" "Turfus and Sons" & "will confuse the Brain that wants to run on green".
Fake, but amusing. If for nothing more than the pissed off letters.
And you want to be my latex salesman...
Art Vandelay is a multi-faceted man - involved in latex, importing-exporting, and architecture, before finally becoming a judge in MA.
I was under the impression that the NCAA banned colored turf, but Boise gets grandfathered in. And it's April 1st.
Eastern Washington is switching to red turf for this year.
Other schools could do it if they want.
True, but I think the change was for FBS teams.
But I've googled -- I mean, topeka'd -- it on several occasions and have yet to find any such rule. As far as I can tell, there is no rule banning turf in colors other than green.
The purple field did look sweet though.
If this is really an April Fool's joke then pretty far with this. It's featured on their main sports page. I really cannot tell.
But now I am thinking not just about maize jerseys, but maize turf.
Actually kind of disappointed it's not true.
This is well done. They had me until the line about the Coliseum.
Imagine that in Tennessee orange.
The entire field in the endzone checkerboard pattern!
One of the strangest NCAA rules: checkerboard endzone patterns have to begin one yard deep in the endzone (that first yard has to be uncolored). I've never understood that one. Solid-colored enzones are allowed to extend across the entire space.
God, that would be phenominal. Teams with bad color schemes should have to have a colored field--as long as Michigan didn't have to play them. Watching Boise run around gives me a headache.
That would actually be pretty awesome.
Another Seinfeld clue -
"...a subsidiary of Vandalay Industries, which is the largest producer of the rubber material found underneath dangerous playground equipment."
I can't think of the name, but George worked for a company that made playground equipment - remember Kramer's oil bladder and "the voice"? Also, the episode when George fakes being handicapped and they give him a Rascal?
That would be Play Now.
...I thought we aren't doing that voice anymore?
It's April 1st. That is all.
They actually will be installing purple field turf at Tiger Stadium. The April Fool's joke was that athletes at LSU would be attending class today.
