Miami commit and top 10 DT dropped his pledge to the Canes for the ever stable confines of the Irish. So they lose Chris Martin but come right back with a commit.
chance of bowl: 13.6%
What if Weis and his obnoxious nature were actually driving some recruits away from ND?
That's a heck of a good point!
he has been a silent since the USC game
You mean like his tendency to ask "Are you going to finish that?" at dinner?
did they get a commitment right now. Wild.
Seriously. Who commits to a team without a coaching staff? Has this ever happened before?
The only thing I could see was if the kid was a life-long ND fan and homer, then, fine. But to drop a commitment and commit to a school with no coach? Foolish.
Louis Nix is a smart boy.
Jimmy Johnson is coming back to coach Notre Dame.
All kidding aside, who commits without knowing who the coach is? Unless he always loved ND but couldn't stand Weis... I guess this means that the rumors of the Irish reputation's demise are greatly exaggerated.
and there is the next insider rumor
Supposedly he was a silent commit to ND after he visited.
Apparently he only made it public as a moral boost and to try and help keep other recruits from jumping off the wagon.
Maybe ND finally offered him more money than Miami???
maybe some of these players have really strong beliefs in Catholicism. We talk all the time about how important national exposure and quality coaching is for kids looking to get to the next level, but to some people their religious beliefs are more important to them than anything else in life. If notre dame keeps getting commits even while not having a coaching staff we might have to accept that some of those players are coming because of religious affiliation.
Bizarre, but it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Looks like if a team needs a recruiting boom all they have to do is fire their coach and watch the verbals roll in.
