OT: LOST- The Candidate
loved the Jack/Locke stuff. Pretty powerful episode.
Saddest LOST ever... My wife was balling(me)...
I mean, that scene was incredible. I was watching it with a girl who I've only gone on a couple dates with, who doesn't watch the show, and, umm, if I'd been alone, I'm pretty sure the waterworks would've just flooded. It was hard to hold it back. That was...wow. I really, really, really hope the sideways world is where they end up. Christ.
over a bad tv show?
Lost is the best TV show that has ever been on network television, flat out. And though that statement is a matter of opinion, this one is not: Lost is an objectively good TV show, and your opinion is wrong. Feel free to continue to hold it though.
Spoken like someone who has never burnt down a banana stand full of money, just to prove a point.
I have the worst F'n attorneys......
COME ON!!
He made a huge mistake
not agree with you, I'll defend your right to say this to the death.
Who the hell even knows what is going on that show
While I was mgoblogging, my gf and her female friend were watching Lost last night. Neither of them cried. Using the transitive property, this makes you a pussy.
No one calls The Shredder a pussy... NO ONE! Do not shame my LOST Honor!
We're definitely barreling towards the finale, people were dropping like flies tonight.
And the ending was up there with the Constant for emotional intensity.
That's definitely how they're setting it up, but I'm more interested in seeing how Desmond fits into everything. At this point, Jack becoming the new Jacob is where they're directing us, but I have no idea what Desmond will do.
Which knowing Lost that means that Hurley is going to be the real new Jacob
Definitely. Given how hard they're pushing the Jack-as-new-Jacob angle, that probably makes him the least likely. I think Hurley would be a good option, but I'm hoping it's Sawyer so he can scowl at the camera for the last 15 minutes of the series after he gets selected.
I completely agree with this. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Considering the series finale is 2.5 hours long, there's still a lot of time for them to throw us all off...
the Man in Black will be the new Jacob
With the role that desmond is playing in the other world, I would say he is the favorite to take over for Jacob.
I can never know for sure, obviously, but I fully expect Jack, Hurley or Sawyer to be Jacob's replacement since they are the only candidates who haven't had their names crossed off yet.
Worst part of the episode was when I realized Frank was still on the sub... :(
Man, that sucked! I always liked Lapidas.
I did think it was awesome how Sayid, who had been ostensibly rendered soulless, supposedly, after the resurrection and subsequent failure to kill Smokey/Fake Locke/Man in Black, came back and we discover that a.) he let Desmond live, and b.) he sacrificed himself to save the people on the submarine (at least he did as much as he could). It was interesting to see that the "good" that was in him was still somehow able to overcome the "bad" or "sickness' (as Dogen described it) in the end.
All in all, the intensity was through the roof. This shit has gone off the reservation. Which is kind of awesome, and highly entertaining.
They never explained why the hell he was in the show in the first place. There's a lot of stuff that's just never going to be answered by this show.
if memory serves, Lapidas was scheduled to be the pilot of the original oceanic 815 but overslept.
than a shag carpet. How are they going to tie all this together? The "screen goes black" thing has been done already.....and let's not discount Kate, mainly because they have gone out of their way to discount her.
Really? There is like... 4.5 more hours to go and you already have the answer of:
- MiB is really, really bad and in no way a good character
- Jack is the one
- Only people remaining alive on the Island: Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, Kate, MiB, Claire, any of Whitmore's men, Whitmore?
Next week is backstory on MiB and Jacob - so we'll get that. After that it's all about the MiB versus Jack and the merging of the two worlds.
So really, how are they going to tie this all together? It seems completely fathomable to me.
While we don't know this for sure, there could still definitely be some of the other people who were running around with MiB alive. After the attack by Widmore's men on the MiB group, someone tells Jack (not sure if it was MiB or Claire) that all of them either died or fled into the jungle.
I believe it was Sayid who said to Jack that the survivors all ran into the jungle and it was just the 3 of them left. (Jack, Sayid, Locke) Claire was with Sawyer and the others at the time.
Where the hell is that polar bear?
Great question. My guess is that when the nuke exploded it died like everyoen else....oh wait...
Sawyer killed it in season one....
with the Darma Initiaive tattoos.
Was Sayid telling Jack that he was "the one" ?
Or what the producers are heavily leading us to believe - that Jack will be the replacement.
Given that they've always made Jack the central character, I'd be really, really surprised if he's not "the one."
Also, keep in mind that he was the only candidate to realize that the way to end all the craziness going on is for them to not kill each other (as MIB can't kill them). In last season's finale MIB basically alludes to the cycle continuously going until they stop killing each other. And it looks like Jack realizes this.
The irony being that it was their original intent to kill Jack in the very first episode to be subversive with the ideal that even your lead could die right off the bat, so no one was safe. He didn't die....but no one WAS safe...
anyone else sad Kate got shot...and still lived? God, she sucks.
YES. Her getting shot was the one highlight of an otherwise depressing episode.
I mean, what DOES she have to live for? Jack's not leaving for domestic bliss... They wouldn't have had that pack with the bomb and all if she hadn't gotten herself shot. Should have had her carry the bomb out.
They're really pushing the idea that Jack will replace Jacob. I could see an ending with the man in black and Jack sitting on the beach recreating the whole "Do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you?" scene. It fits with the opposing nature of their relationship through the entire series.
I'm still holding out hope that (the real) John Locke still has a role to play in it all. He's one of the best characters ever written for a TV drama IMO.
I have pictured EXACTLY that scene happening. Except with the opposite feel if the MiB being in Locke's body. So Jack is the one with faith now, and the Locke-Ness Monster just wanting to get off the island.
Though I agree with you that I'd be happy to be wrong if the real Locke did play a part. He was my favorite character, and while I'm glad the actor is still around to be bad-ass, with Locke being right and showing all that faith, I thought he deserved to be rewarded.
Episode 16. Does anyone know how many there are in total?
At least 16 too many.
I think this was ep 15. There are 4 (.5) more hours. The finale on May 23 is now bloated to 2.5 hrs. No way they use that extra 30 mins to wrap up anything useful.
I can't wait until May 23rd.
ya Jack has definetly figured it out...too bad sawyer fucked everything up. Listen to the new leader! yes great episode...but very sad...same with the juilette episode...LOST is one of the best shows i have ever seen...Next to Sopranos, Entourage, Deadwood, and Dexter.
