I'm starting to wonder if Narduzzi is really that interested in being a HC anywhere. He's very choosey about where he may or may not interview, especially for a guy with no head coaching experience. Maybe he just prefers being a DC

Someone mentioned that Texas might reach out.... to like 8 coaches and he was down there on that list.

Also extensions in college football are worth absolutely nothing unless they increase the buyout and even that isn't very effective any more.

but from 1979-83 when Michigan won 5 straight

  1. Who was their head coach and DC?
  2. Did all their starters play?
  3. Were they cheated out of anything?

No one remembers. People only remember the W/L. So I appreciate the sentiment, but 20 years from now people will only remember who won. I'd rather just win, regardless of circumstance

Perhaps it doesn't, but the thread earlier today only gets as far as Mark Dantonio being on the list of coaches that Texas would like to interview, which to me implies that they've not yet formally reached out and made the call. Even if they did, he could just decline an interview, and I have a suspicion - and I could be wrong about all this - that Dantonio may very well believe that East Lansing is a destination for him even if it is not a destination job per se. He's created a situation which in a lot of respects he owns, a situation that works and doesn't have the pressure of the Texas job.

I would be intrigued, however, to see if Texas did call and how far they might be willing to go in monetary terms with any coach, including Dantonio (if only because we would then know how spendthrifty the Longhorns are willing to be if they really wanted a Midwest coach with no Texas ties). Patterson wants this done by January 15th supposedly.

I agree wiwth the concept of MSU being a job with less pressure than Texas, but the Sparty fanbase has eventually turned on every coach in the last forty years except Nick Saban, who got out early.  If Dantonio has two bad seasons in a row, the same Sparty fans who worship him now will vilify him.

Getting your top choice in college football these days isn't really an option unless there's luck involved. Sounds like Texas search isn't going as planned.

Urban was unemployed and osu had a vacancy after the tressel scandal. Another reason why I hate the shit out of them.

Is it weird that I'm concerned about Michigan and don't care what anyone else does since I think its important to get our situation right?

McDowell's recruitment and how he's leaning toward Michigan State and away from us, the current situation of the MSU staff directly concerns Michigan's situation.   It's a major reason why I made this post.  Otherwise you would have a point and I would agree with you. ..

I don't see how we are going to "get things right" when a coordinator provides mountains of statistical evidence that he's bad at his job and is still given a fourth year. Many Michigan fans feel helpless and like we have no choice but to root for other programs to get worse when we show no urgency to make things better.

Dantonio is doing well in EL but has really not done anything at a national level with them. He won't either, IMO. They will be in Tempe next year. Book it.

Actually, with a big raise and a Rose Bowl win- MD might take it easy next year. it wouldn't be the first time this has happened. We might catch them soft in EL. Success sometimes leads to a termporary vacation.

He loves MSU and he has built a nice program. Dantonio is also old, with health issues so having to build another program probably isn't high on his list of things to do.
