OT: Longest Tennis Match in History Day 3 Open Thread

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

Because out of sight is out of mind, and easy access is the key, we can follow along here, with day THREE! And wonder if this thing is going to go to day four....and five....Should start up again soon.

This is the summer of non-content hits for the site (and by non-content, I mean Michigan related). Things like this, and the soccer, and expansion, and sanctions for USC, etc, etc keep popping up, and getting clicks. Heck, the weather has even done it a couple of times it's been so rough.

I can't believe I'm saying this - but I can't wait for this match to start back up. (What? I'm excited for a tennis match?!)

Edit: Ha, they're doing the wave.

Isner comes across like he's tired of this crap, while Mahut seemed somewhat upbeat yesterday. Also,  Mahut is in good shape; Isner looks like he's been to a kegger...

I agree. Isner seems to be waiting for Mahut to make enough mistakes to lose, and he's basically relying strictly on his thunderous serve to keep him in. It seems to be a matter of time until Mahut takes a service game from Isner and ends this.

Edit:  Nevermind.  Was down 0-30 but back to back aces, a return of serve wide, and a return of serve into the net.

Now he's up 69-68

But I feel sorry for a Frenchman. I mean, whoever lost was going to feel this way. But man, he looks dead not only physically, but emotionally. It ended too soon. Today. Relatively speaking.

I have never been much of a fan of the player whose game is almost exclusively defined by their serve, enabled by their great height. And it's boring tennis. Mahut was basically played for 3 days against someone who was serving from a ladder. I 'm sorry the guy lost.
