OT: Long weekend plans - Humblebragging edition

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on

I'll be spending most of the long weekend with people I'm not exactly fond of, doing things I'd rather not do.

Is anyone doing something fun this weekend?  Taking the boat out?  Getting on a plane and taking a vacation?  Two chicks at the same time?

Tell us all about your plans.

Since I've read so much about local microbrews on this blog, the girlfriend and I are headed to Ann Arbor for our own two-person mini pub crawl. Our tentative plans include stops at Blue Tractor, Arbor, Grizzly Peak, and Jolly Pumpkin.

If anyone has any suggestions (or conversely, any places to avoid), they'll be cheerfully accepted.

Old German
It is in the basement of Grizzly Peak and normally has a few more very interesting beers available in addition to the GP brews. Appetizer type smaller menu and typically opens at 4PM. My wife likes the shots that are served in ice shot glasses(peppermint and cherry).

We sold our house. Closing at 4! Wait, who scheduled a closing at 4 pm on a holiday weekend??? Then headed to our houseboat to celebrate!

Final prep on the 911 and then going to Watkins Glen for 2 days on the track.  Otherwise, normal, suburban family stuff - lawn mowing, bike ride, shopping, barbecuing, etc...

Oh and cheering for the Michigan softball team...

Driving down tomorrow morning to take in my 27th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Might be the last race before we start taking our oldest daughter so I might have to make it a good one. The race has lost a little luster since its heyday but it remains one of my favorite weekends of the year.

Love the Indy 500.

As a kid, I thought the Johnny Lightning Special was the coolest thing that ever existed.

BTW, Indy may have lost some luster since the split, but the last four races in a row are among the best of all time.  It's actually a much better race now than anytime in its "heyday".

Other than solemn moments when we remember our fallen military we should be jackhammering something.  And nobody get sick either.

Off to a good start! Gas company came by, found a leak, and shut off or gas. So now I'm waiting for the plumber, and hoping all fixes are quick and easy. Looks like we'd be grilling our way through the weekend, even if we didn't want to. That and cold showers.

Meeting some friends in A^2 for copious amounts of alcohol. Celebrating the pending purchase of our new house in Brighton. Yay, massive debt!

My long weekend consists of 12 hour shifts dealing with people having a lot more fun than me! Seriously, enjoy your weekend for those of us who won't be (other than the paycheck) and take some time Monday to remember the sacrifices made for our freedom.

Golf tomorrow morning, probably BBQ in the evening and some gardening. Stuck taking pictures for my niece's birthday party on Sunday, but also planning to BBQ again. Monday I hope to sleep in and just relax - all day.

Spending the weekend at home (in Petoskey), probably will do some fly-fishing and also walleye fishing. But for tonight, bar-hopping downtown with friends.

I detect very little humbleragging on this thread. Hoping everyone has a safe and peaceful holiday. And for those who have to work, hope it isn't too crazy and you can spend some tie with friends and/or family.

Working on a few cases and praying that nobody does anything stupid this weekend to add to my case load. So no I&I for me. On the plus side my office should be nearly empty so I should get a lot done.

Fishing tomorrow. Do whatever wife and kids want on Sunday. Go to a Veterans Remembrance on Monday and then more kids choice excursions. I got some more beans to plant in my garden, hopefully kids want to do that together.
