Never really got it done in Minny and Seattle? He's not built to be a true number one receiver but he held his own as a number two guy. In Minnesota he showed up and became the number one guy when Randy Moss got injured, prompting the Seahawks to sign him to a 49 million dollar contract. He was injured in the 2008 season but put up numbers almost matching TJ this year. He's not another Calvin Johnson by any means, but he's good at what he does. I'd disagree with "never really got it done"
Especially when you consider the Seahawks problems at QB with Hasselback getting hurt all the time.
Nate was definitely a very good downfield threat in Minnesota's vertical passing game. As a Seahawks fan, I liked him, but I don't think he was the best fit in a West Coast offense, which in a sense negates a lot of his straight line speed. NB did want to go back to Seattle, but the Seahawks overhauled the front office. It seems Carroll and the rest of the FO wasn't so excited about and were content to let him try free agency.
Comparing him to TJ from last year isn't the best comparison, bc most Hawks fans were a little dissapointed in TJ last year. Sure 79 catches looks decent on paper, but as the no. 1 he failed to break 1000 yards, only broke 100 yards in 2 games, and only had 3 Tds.
The Hawks didn't really sign him to a $49 million contract. On its face it was a 7 year, $49 million contract, but this was in the midst of the poison pills that that the Seahawks and Vikings were doing to each other. The contract said if he played an X amount of games in MN, the entire contract would be guaranteed. In reality I believe the actual value of his deal was 4 years - $14.5 million, with a $4 mill signing bonus (3 of the years dropped of th contract).
It's fair to characterize Nate's time in Seattle as a rollercoaster. Had a good year last year, but also had some injuries the last couple of years. Seattle has also really been torn up in injuries the last couple of years. At times in Seattle he was the No. 4, and then at times he was the No. 1.
Wouldn't have minded having him back, but not heartbroken to see him go. For the money, I understand. I will miss him as a KR though. I think he has the potential to be very dangerous there.
He's a good number two across from Calvin assuming we can get him to actually work and not be a lazy piece of shit.

In a fantasy league in which I played Burleson was always on a roster, but frequently hit the waiver wire and then got picked up by somebody else. This mirrors his pro career a bit. Owners see his potential, pick him up, see that others are producing better than he is, and drop him. Somebody else sees his potential, and the cycle spins again. Maybe Detroit will be the place that he finds his groove.
