He would make a better backup than what they have right now.  Until Stafford proves he is capable of staying healthy for an entire year, backup QB is even more important in Detroit than it is on other teams.  You have to have a good one in this era.

I would think it was because of the contract they offered him. $5.5 million for one year seems like a pretty good deal for a backup quarterback (I don't think anyone wanted him for a starting position anyways). Plus, he may get to see the field if Vick doesn't hold up all season long.

I'm excited to have him, but I just read we signed him to a 1 year deal for $3 million. Not the length of contract I expected, especially for someone in their prime

If I were signing with the Lions, I'd sign a one year just to make sure the team had turned the corner, and if the team played well I'd sign a whopper and win a Superbowl.  That's probably what Tulloch is doing.

Based on comments from Schefter and John Clayton, it seemed that no team was willing to give him a long-term deal as teams have been weary about investing a lot in linebackers this year. It sounds like the one-year deal was pushed for by the Lions and not Tulloch.

he will get a long term deal. The Lions will franchise him if it comes to that. They won't let him get away. Now they can concentrate on Corner and Offensive Tackle. With Backus dealing with a minor injury, and Gosder Cherilus coming off of microfracture surgery... I think they could use a little more depth.

If everything clicks with this team this year I can see 10+ wins as a good possibility.  If we can keep Stafford healthy I think it will be between us and GB for the division.  I don't see the Vikings doing much this year and the Bears seem to be doing their best to trade away their team.  Prediction:  10-6 with a Wild Card playoff birth

Hmmm, I wanted Barnett but I didn't think Tulloch would be that easy of a sign.  Wish it was for longer than a year but a starting three at linebacker of Levy, Tulloch, and Durant sounds actually pretty damn good.  Not much depth yet, but this is probably easily the best front seven in the division now.

Now we need to get Cliff Avril taken care of.

This is not surprising at all. I live in Nashville and had a feeling when Schwartz went to Detroit that some of the guys on D would follow him there. So far that has been the case. Good pick up for the Lions.

Good signing. Covers a need and now we can focus on depth and corners. Tulloch is younger than Barnett, plus Tulloch still has lots of tread on his tires. He's only started full time since 2008, whereas Barnett has done it 4+ years longer...

I'm gonna try not to get caught in too much hyperbole, but is it fair to say the addition of 2 rock solid linebackers along with Levy gives the Lions one of the best front 7s in the whole league?

Vanden bosh for this pick up. The Lions are now legitimate playoff contenders and it just illuminates how pathetic Matt Millen really was. Night and day difference in this franchise in only a few seasons.
