OT: Lions sign CB Dre Bly to 2 year deal
Haha wtf? I was just about to post this. I can't believe he's back. Just goes to show how money talks. Probably wasn't getting many offers from other teams. But in fairness the team is completley different from when he was here last.
Welcome back Dre! Don't get your head taken off again after an interception like you did a couple years ago!
strip the football run back for a TD.
Also patended by Bly: getting burned deep.
I never understood why we traded him in the first place? He was the first lions Pro bowler in ages and all we got in return was George Foster (OT) and Tatum Bell (RB). BTW both players are now out of the league
Didn't he burn the Lions on the way out? I faintly remember him bashing the coaches and organization. Though, I guess it is a whole new regime so ... welcome back Bly! I'm optimistic the Lions can be .500 this year. Any help and competition in our secondary is welcome.
But, if you had played for the Lions when he did, you would've burned everybody on the way out too.
AFAIC, Bly called a spade a spade on his way out of Detroit. He's honest, he plays hard, and has had some success, though it is probably too far in the rear-view mirror to do much good now. I know a lot of people percieve him as too reckless and too ready to gamble, but he might end up being a good mentor to the younger players.
Welcome back.
he's baaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaack!
I'll take it. Especially one that, at least at one point in time, resembled an actual cornerback.
Does this mean we might have a secondary this year?
I can break out my old Bly jersey, just like new!
are you going to watch the Lions vs the Bears or the Lions vs the Packers?
Neither. I only pretend to care about sports that are not Michigan football.
The sad part is he'll most likely start. The secondary is still the worst in the league
the Lions secondary is so bad it's officially listed as the tertiary.
Look for him to have a breakout year.
Are you saying last year wasn't a breakout year?
as in make pro bowl team and all-pro team
Houston - guaranteed starter (although on almost every other team he'd be fighting for a starting spot)
King / Bly / Spievey / Wade - One of these 3rd-tier CBs will be a starting CB in the NFL.
Hopefully Bly still has it in his 12th year; or Spievey is a steal as a 3rd round pick; or King ends up more than an average Nickel back
Always liked Bly. He takes a lot of risks but dude is a ballhawk.
18 defensive backs on the roster. Good Lord.
Yet not one of them is really worth a damn.
I'll give you Delmas. He's better than average.
Are they allowed to all be on the field at the same time?
Depends, how many people do you want to see get beaten deep at one time?
not quite as cool as the Roy Williams FIRST DOWN
I don't know if Bly is still a good corner, but I saw him at the gym once, and that guy is built.
Wasn't he the MVP of the game the last time the Lions won on Thanksgiving??
black and white film from this game?
I would expect 4 INT's, 45 Takles, and atleast 1 FF. He will do well, and help mentor the younger DB's.
Does this mean we can bring donovan warren back to M too?
