OT: Lions-Saints Playoff Game Open Thread

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

OK, this other games sucks, so get all your positive Lion talk in now, since not being able to hold a 2nd string QB to under 40 has probably killed any chance of seeing the Lions win their second playoff game in most of our lifetimes. At least I'm not still in New Orleans for it.

Huge Turnover!  About the only way the Lions will be able to stop them is if they get turnovers.

Another reason to hate the Saints today:  The players from Ohio on their defense.

Wide open passing spreads? Early turnover? No discernible defense?

How is this different than college?

Ed: Running from under center isn't working too?

Nice to join you all for another Detroit Lions playoff game.

I'm on delay so I haven't read any posts, and won't til a few more commercials through which I can fastforward.

Was pretty poor on the second drive. Way too much lame, predictable handoff on 2nd and 10, which is a time when the Lions never get positive yardage.

On that long Megatron drop, they should have called illegal contact beyond five yards.

And, with that touchdown score, it's clear that the Lions are doing a bad job defending the edge.

....that's a good way to recover all the yards and more

I do like how they are mixing up the offense and going to different guys nearly every time. It does seem to keep the Saints off balance. The Lions will have to do this a lot and do it effectively for most of the game.

Wouldn't mind a holding call go against the Saints at some point.  I know people complain about this all the time, but the Saints really do seem to tackle defensive players are a higher rate than you'd expect.  The goal is to keep the QBs upright, but there have been a couple drives so far where the Saints just maul the linemen.
