OT: Lions draft WR Tim Toone - Mr. Irrelevant (#255)

The Detroit Lions with the last pick select WR Timothy Toone - Weber St Return guy... small... unorthodox running style... most likely enjoys Caribbean steel drum

I actually think this guy has a chance at making the team at the kick/punt return spots. Derrick Williams sure didn't work there. I'd say its a good pick at 255.

I really wish they would have taken Lagarrette Blount with the last pick he is a big powerful back that breaks tackles unlike Kevin Smith and it would be a nice combo with him and Best in the backfield. The Bonus is they would have got a 2nd or 3rd talent for next to nothing.

Blount is a power back that can be a solid inside runner and he has some quickness and hes 6'0 240 he had 17 tds and 1000+ yards his Jr year. He could provide the Thunder to Best's Lightning. You dont lose anything by taking him with the last pick he has a lot more potential than Toon

that I compare Blount to? Ron Dayne. He runs exactly like him. What did Ron Dayne do in the NFL? Nothing. Despite the fact that he won the Heisman Trophy and ran for over 1500 yards at Wisconsin, he just couldn't cut it in the NFL. He's too slow and doesn't have the burst needed to play in the next level. Blount is slow and doesn't have the burst. Before you give me an counterexample, Brandon Jacobs and Jerome Bettis are fast for their size. Both of them can get to the hole in a hurry which is why they're successful. Blount is too slow to get to the hole.

Hes 6'0 240 he averaged 7.3 YPC in(2009) you don't get that being "too slow" He finished just behind Javid best in the 3 cone drilland he ran 4.53 40 at his pro day. That is more than fast enough for a Big Back and His 3 cone is only behind Javid Best who is a speed back. Those times are also faster than other big backs Drafted Toby Gehert, Anthony Dixon, Jonathan Dwyer who are all big back 230+ but not as big as Lagarrette Blount. His measurable of speed and quickness were better. Before the (Boise St. punch) he was projected as a second or third round guy. Why not have a thunder and lighting combo in the back field. If he acts up gets in trouble or cant cut it you dont lose anything by taking him with pick 255. PS Blount just signed with the 49ers

If the Lions front office publicly stated that they took Toone because his dreads are sweet then I'm fine with the pick. Otherwise Lagarrette Blount would have been a great pick or Warren. Warren would have been a quality 4th round pick. Also, anyone who equated Blair White with Charles Rogers is a moron. I hate sparty as much as anyone but be reasonable.

Has "we threw a dart at a board and it landed on this guy's name" written all over it. Either that, or "Millen called and for old time's sake, we threw him a 'what the fk was that pick?' bone."

The Lions could use all the help they can in the secondary, and DW could have contributed at either position....Probably not as a starter, but he could have been solid coming off of the bench as well as special teams. Not to mention the value you get. Instead we get Jack Black from one of those dumb ass 90s slashers. (Forgot which one)
