OT: Leonard Fournette says the NFL is easy, thanks to playing in the SEC
The quote: "It's a lot slower than I really thought. That's how I've been since I first got into the NFL. A lot of people were like, 'It's going to be fast.' But by me playing in the SEC, that kind of helped me a lot. I think, to me, it was really easy."
Fournette rushed 9 times for 31 yards and a TD in their preseason win over New England.
So this confirms SEC > NFL.

Next Trent Richardson.

too soon.

Just to think, you guys got trade raped by the Cleveland Browns.
August 12th, 2017 at 12:00 PM ^
Richardson for the pick that became Manziel. Hardly a trade rape when both sides lose horribly.
August 12th, 2017 at 12:09 PM ^
Yet could we use a different word than rape? Not the happiest descriptor out there, even when meant in a sports joke context.
And on Fournette, let's see what his ankle says by Week 5.

It's not funny to joke about murderers, even if it is in the context of eating vegetables.
August 12th, 2017 at 12:28 PM ^
To be fair spinach is in need of murdering. Typically coated in a nice vinaigrette of vengeance.

I suppose we'll agree to disagree on this before the caps lock starts to fly

TRIGGERED!
August 12th, 2017 at 12:38 PM ^
The Browns ended up with GM Ryan Grigson in the end though, so I think the Colts came out on top.
August 12th, 2017 at 12:55 PM ^
Hate that guy.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:08 AM ^
Wait until the regular season gets underway and see if he still says that.
August 12th, 2017 at 12:47 PM ^
He is playing against UFA and other guys fighting to make rosters. This guy is from the Ryan Leaf school of humility.
As the late, great Dennis Green might advise, at least wait preseason game 3.
August 12th, 2017 at 7:11 PM ^
Remember when Steve Spurrier took the Washington job and torched everyone in his first preseason?
It was the high point of his career. Fournette can be wrong about this and still be a fine player, but there's no way he's not going to eat his words after playing one preseason game against the expendable scrubs (and vanilla schemes) New England was putting on the field.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:07 AM ^
And it pays the same!
August 12th, 2017 at 12:39 PM ^
Whoa there. Have you seen the rookie pay scales? Most SEC stars took a HUGE pay cut to make the jump.
August 12th, 2017 at 2:48 PM ^
The NCAA would like a word with you though, false allegations and all.
You know that is illegal don't you.

One game into the preseason does not a hall of fame career make. Get back with us when you are up against the starters. Me thinks Fournette just made himself a marked man come regular season
August 12th, 2017 at 11:17 AM ^
I agree. Way too early to say something like that (which shouldn't ever be said at all).
August 12th, 2017 at 11:46 AM ^
Doesn't make a hall of fame career period. The fact it was against back ups makes his take even funnier. Fournette definitely got an SEC education tbougb.
August 12th, 2017 at 12:29 PM ^
All those professional football players are gonna try and tackle Fournette now, as opposed to before he said it, when they were just going to rip the flag off of his waist.
August 12th, 2017 at 1:30 PM ^
Guess you never played football.
August 15th, 2017 at 10:27 PM ^
of football, and my senior year in college. In 3 weeks, no one is going to remember, or care what Fournette said. The NFL is full of grown men that are trying to do a job and provide for their families. They won't care about what a 21 year old rookie said preseason week 1.
August 12th, 2017 at 4:01 PM ^
Approximately four years into your NFL career.
A few linebackers on various teams would like a word with you.
August 12th, 2017 at 5:42 PM ^
This is the guy that struck the heisman pose after rushing for 92 yards on 13 carries against Sam Houston St his freshman year. There is no "too early" in his world.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:20 AM ^
So wait, he rushed 9 times at about a 3.5 ypc clip and he's talking shit? If nothing else, I think this confirms the value of an SEC education.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:27 AM ^
He wasn't a math major, probably didn't realize that's all he did.
August 13th, 2017 at 2:05 AM ^
He gave em 3...... 3.5 rather
August 13th, 2017 at 11:20 PM ^
to be fair, 3.5 rounds up to 4, which rounds up to 5, and 5 rounds up to 10, so 10 ypc thats like real good.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:34 AM ^
He's still working on his feetwork.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:43 AM ^
The Patriots held out all their starters against the Jaguars. 3.5 YPC against backups in a preseason game.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:59 AM ^
I was logging in to say just this. The starters and second string aren't playing nearly as hard in pre-season. The Bills' back up running backs were tearing off 10 yards a carry against the Vikings the other night. SEC guys aren't smart enough to realize that. Fornette is going to get some nice welcome to the league hits for mouthing off. I haven't seen him play a lot but understand he is a physical runner. He'll either be a bust or have a Fragile Fred Taylor type of career where he has bursts, but is hurt all the time.
August 12th, 2017 at 1:43 PM ^
Confirms the value of an SEC education? He was probably tops in his class. Or atleast his "tudor" was.
August 12th, 2017 at 8:22 PM ^
In the sec a 'tudor" is a sports car.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:23 AM ^
Lol yeah nice 3.5 ypc homie
August 12th, 2017 at 11:23 AM ^
How would he know, he's barely played in an SEC game in years.
August 12th, 2017 at 11:31 AM ^
that just averaged a bit over 3 yards a carry
Not to mention that there's a good chance based on history that he will be hurt by the time preseason is over. But his mouth will still work anyway
August 12th, 2017 at 11:33 AM ^
Averages and fractions are post-graduate math studies in the SEC.

His own teammate Sheldon Day already hit the bullseye. And he's from 4-8 Notre Dame.
