OT-Lebron James returns to Cleveland

Submitted by BlueCube on

I just heard a report on TV that Lebron is returning to Cleveland. He made a statement to Sports Illustrated.

The trick is to realize it's just sports.

If it's tied to your self worth, or makes you lament the current state of humanity, or pine for the "good ol' days" to the point of making you morose, you are doing it wrong.

The way it was in the old days was wrong and shitty. Players weren't "loyal" so much as they were controlled by the owners who wielded nearly unlimited power and ruled with an iron fist.

There is more parity now for the fans. Everything is better for the players. They used to be getting paid dog shit compared to what they were actually worth. Now they're getting fairly compensated for the gobs and gobs of revenue they generate for their leagues.

The pst of only better if you ignore everything that's better about today and ignore everything that was wrong about the way we used to do things.

I'm a Cavs fan and live in the Greater Cleveland area and could not be happier. This will be great for the team, fans, and economy.

So you downvote posts about the World Cup and Tour de France, but upvote a post about LeBron James? Apparently you feel that only your interests should be displayed on this site. I'm with Salvatore - you're a giant, flapping douchebag.

I've never understood how this is supposed to be an insult.  I fuck myself on a very regular basis and would gladly accept your invitation.

don't care for it. IMO, the Cavs roster outside of LBJ is overrated. Kyrie is good but not top tier PG that many make him out to be. Waiter is a ball hog and isn't a good shooter. Thompson is meh to me. Bennett is lol to me.

What is poor Brian Windhorst going to do now?  Go back to where he came from?  Does he (or anyone else) know where that might be?  And what is the WWL going to do to fill up that first half hour of SportsCenter?

If I were from Cleveland, I'd set Lake Erie on fire and tell Lebron to go jump in it.

(Either that, or I'd have less self-respect in general...)

if he wants to be remembered as an all-time great, like top-5, the way to do it is to come back home and win titles in Cleveland.  He thought he would get respect by winning titles in Miami but he realizes now that it doesn't quite work that way.  People don't respect the way he did it--running away from Cleveland and engineering a good situation in a place that held no connection to him at all.  That isn't how superstars are supposed to win titles.  They are supposed to be the center of gravity.  They aren't supposed to go looking for the easiest path to the ring.

So now he can repair his image AND build his legacy.  Maybe it won't happen.  But I don't think there was any other place it was going to happen but Cleveland.

Huh? He went from a team that was old with few options to get better, one that had a year left to make a run then was going to be in serious trouble... To a very talented young team that can contend for another 5-6 yrs with a few moves. This is him as a good guy? Oh, and he left yet another team in shambles, and screwed the guy who gave up the most to bring him to Miami... Wade. Yup. Unequivocal good guy there.

Lebron only what was best for Lebron. No one else. I won't fault him for that but it doesn't make him a good guy. Sports fan can just be ridiculous sometimes, want to believe so bad.

WOOOOOOOOOO I think Cleveland's championship drought's future is in some serious doubt now.  And the Cavs already offered for Love.  Worst to First for the Cavs after being the worst team in the NBA for the last 4 years

Think the pressure on David Blatt just got ratched it up a notch or two.

Hey David - welcome to the NBA coaching ranks.  I'm sure the transition from the Israeli league to the NBA will be seemless and we'll give you all the time you need to get acclamated.

We were thinking like three or four games.  Mkay?

I don't feel like the coach even makes much of a difference on a team built with money. Does anyone really look at Erik Spoelstra and say "Wow what a great coach". No, I think "Wow, what a great babysitter who watched a lot of really great basketball players basketball". I probably could've coached the Heat the last few years

Wiggins may be in play for Love. Link.

This quote was funny:

One has to wonder what James' preference is. He obviously knows how great Love is, and has played with him on Team USA. He's also known Wiggins since he was a high schooler.

So, he's known Wiggins for a year? I'm sure he's deeply attached.
