This is just a load. Plenty of guys have gone through similar grinds. But LeBron needs to be presented as super human.

It is surprising as I thought he was a smart business man.  The Cavs fans are mostly ohio fans, but also a reasonable percentage are Michigan fans.  He is not hosting a Mich vs. ohio game, it is the Cavs vs. Golden State, how does it make sense to put the block M up.  And then he wants to make all good and help out the city of Detroit.

Then again, this is the same buffoon who publicly like a petulant child said that the Cavs, without LJ, would win a title before the Heat did, how did that work out for you Dan.  So not surprising that he is a typical little brother inferiority comlexed Staee grad.

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier. This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.  Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.  The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you. There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.  You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.  You have given so much and deserve so much more.  In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.  Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.  Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.  This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.  But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.  The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.  Sleep well, Cleveland.  Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day….I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue….

Dan Gilbert, Majority Owner, Cleveland Cavaliers

I'm pretty sure Gilbert would rather be in Detroit than Cleveland... I think he tried to buy the Pistons before the Cavs...

Not to mention he's investing in Detroit.

The letter is bad, but when he's one of the few people with the means to revitalize a city, I'll take it.

I would think so, but still no need for him to act like a douche.  Would be almost like Stephen M. Ross putting up a picture of urbz during a Dolphins football game versus the Chargers.  So he would be "pandering" to the Gator/Dolphin fans who dislike urbz for leaving Gainesville.  Douche Move!

It's kinda funny really.  Here's what they put up to get people to boo during free throws:

1. Ben Roethlisberger

2. Steelers logo

3. Block M

And by FAR the block M gets the loudest and most sustained boo's.  God love my wife, whenever they do it she stands up and cheers and yells "go blue" even though she was born here in Ohio and her only connection to Michigan is me.

I try and ignore it but I sure as hell don't join in.  And BTW - a bit later I've got a "cool story bro" post coming as I ran into the great Phil Hubbard entering the building last Thursday and got him to join me in a "let's go Blue" chant in the middle of a packed concession walkway!

Not saying playing basketball is easy, at all, but I think it's probably the least hard on your body of the major sports. So I get being tired, but the way they phrase it, "stretched beyond his physical limits" is melodramatic.

Everyone says the same shit about soccer. Except they forget that the sheer volume of playing time = more injuries regardless of the contact.

Lebron can't even sit out 2 minutes without his team falling behind by 15 pts. It's that pathetic.

Catchers and pitchers have a grueling job and the season is 162 games long, almost twice as long as the NBA. Getting hit by pitches, running full speed and diving into the ground, or sliding into a base/catcher...catching cleats if your the SS or 2B trying to turn a double....I'd still go with MLB as being more grueling.

Catchers and pitchers absolutely put a ton of stress on particular joints, no disagreement there.

Baseball games contain only about 20 minutes of actual gameplay, whereas the majority of NBA starters play roughly 40 minutes a night. While baseball players run at full speed, they are usually only running 90 feet at a time and get to follow that up by standing in place for a little while. Basketball players (usually) are constantly moving, even if it is a jog at times.

...it's playing defense properly. Always maintaining your stance, keeping your body prepared to respond...that's draining. Not every player bothers to do it, which I think is why some people think the game isn't grueling and others do.

C'mon, the most mentally grueling sport?  It might be the least mentally grueling sport.  Every other sport you have to be constantly thinking, reacting, and pulling on film study the entire time you're playing while also dealing with an opponent who is doing the same and trying to physically throw you off your game.  Baseball, you just stand in the field for hours waiting for shit to happen without the opponent really doing much of anything physically to throw you off your game.  The only times you need to be mentally challenged are in unique fielding or base running situations, and 4-5 times a game when you're at bat.

Shit, I'd argue golf is more mentally challenging than baseball.

You must be joking.

Anyone who's not mentally sharp is going to bat .150, period.  You can't hit if you're not paying attention and if you think you can just flip the paying attention switch when you need to, you're nuts. Fielders aren't just standing there.  Baseball players are taught, every new batter, to re-assess in their mind what they're going to do with the ball.  "If it's a single in front of me I'll do this, if it's a double to the corner I do that, if it's a short fly ball I do something else."  There's a reason relievers have a reputation for being a little crazy: because if you're wound up too tight in a role where you're constantly getting up and down and never know when you'll play, you'll be a wreck.

And if you would be cool going to work for 27 weeks with an average of one day off a week and some weeks none at all, and jetting all over the country to do it, more power to you.

"Baseball isn't mentally taxing" is extremely ignorant.

Yeah, the down time forces you to be in your head much longer. Same with golf. And you've also got 162 game schedule for baseball. You've gotta be game ready day in and day out. It's mentally draining. And you get up to bat only 4-5 times a game. That means you're constantly thinking about what's going to happen in your next AB knowing that you may only get a handful of pitches and then you've gotta wait another half hour before you get another chance. Baseball is a constant mind game. And when the ball is in play, you still have to react quickly and when runners are on base, you may have to make those split second decisions. And pitchers and catchers, man that's fucking mentally draining. Thinking through every pitch all game long, knowing the scouting report for every batter in every count in every situation. And you don't always have days to prepare like you do in other sports. You gotta shift gears right after the series is done and you get on a plane and play a game the next day. It happens in other sports, but it happens constantly in baseball.

I played baseball, golf and basketball in high school. Physically, basketball was obviously the most demanding. Mentally, golf and baseball were far more demanding. Your instincts can take over in basketball. Golf and baseball I had to get out of my own head most of the time. Way easier to overthink things. And in a basketball game, you have plenty of opportunities to make up for mistakes. In golf and baseball, the one mistake could cost you a good day.
