OT: Late Christmas present for Northville-area MGblogger

Submitted by Yo_Blue on

I have a hundred or so Michigan Football and basketball VHS tapes that my dad made beginning in 1985 or so.  I can no longer house them (according to my wife).  Against her wishes, I would like to donate them to someone who may enjoy seeing "the good ol' days" once more.  She would like them donated to the landfill just west of town.  I feel like that would be a travesty.

I live in the Northville area and will give them to the first contact who offers to pick them up.  Shoot me a note at yo_solutions @ hotmail . com if you are interested.

The list of tapes includes most Ohio State games, most ND games, most MSU games, most Bowl games, some of the basketball NC season, many of the non-conference football games between 85 and 2000.  There is a mix of many random games as well including the hockey NC season.

Thanks for all the responses - several MGoBloggers contacted me and we have a winner who will have the tapes picked up next week.  I appreciate the interest!

I've got a bunch of these as well, also starting in 1985.  It's a shame you can't keep them.  I do think someone will want them.

The coolest thing when you look back at them again is the commercials and the news breaks and the highlights of other games . . . The new 1985 Corvette!! . . . The Soviet Union is announcing a new policy of Perestroika!! . . . Oklahoma is surprising everyone with the Wishbone offense!!

I'm just lacking the time required to transfer them and patience from my wife.  Both are in short supply these days!

I'm fighting to hang onto my football programs, my Street and Smith magazines, Sports Illustrated, etc.  Despite her claims, I AM NOT A HOARDER!

Hmm. You say you aren't a hoarder. Just how much space do these videotapes take up? And your father gave them to you so he could downsize?

You need to define "Hoarder."

  • (your definition)
  • (your wife's definition)

Hoarding vs Collecting is in the eye of the beholder.

You should do what I did. I bought a nice looking ottoman that doubles as a storage unit. I still don't think she knows it hold all my old jerseys and t-shirts.

I'm sure she does. Check your credit card statement around the time you got your ottoman with the "secret" storage. I'm sure you'll find a purchase of some nice jewelry or the like that doubles as her reward for boosting her husband's self esteem by pretending to not notice your ottoman's alterior purpose.

includes the press conference where Bo states "The Michigan Team will be coached by the Michigan Coach", leaving no doubt the newly named Arizona State Coach would not be coaching in the tournament.

I  think this should be made a sticky and turned into something like the ticket spreadsheet.  We can all list the stuff we have that we cherish but our wives insist we throw out.  That way, we'll know it's going to a good home and not the landfill, and we can all pick up some interesting crap that our wives will eventually demand we get rid of.

Do you not have a second home or basement or storage locker where you can keep them? What is this world coming to, where a man truly no space of his own, and is merely seen as a provider for his wife's domain. Grow some balls, man.

2 hours later: "Honey, I was going to acquiesce to your request that we move my stuff that's been driving you nuts because I love you and care about your happiness, but then this guy on a football blog's message board said..."
