She made an ass of herself on national TV. She said that he should be going to LSU and that they are the #1 team. What an asshat...
OT - Landon Collins' Mom gets pissed when he picks Tide over LSU
So if 'Bama wins the Championship Game next Monday, will Mom recant her statement? Geez, what a silly display.
Poor guy. His mom is pretty selfish to be acting like that. Just ridiculous.
WOW what a mom! Southern folk can take this a bit too hard when things dont go their way. Especially when it involves football.
"Especially when it involves money."
is actually this guy.......
Miles (as well as some other southeast schools) does that too.
His mom is a jerk
Her reaction was pricess; she was clearly pissed. I had a good laugh...probably because it was kind of refreshing to see a deviation from the typical "oh, man. I don't know what to choose! I guess I'll pick...(wait 4 seconds) SEC SCHOOL!"
The cynic in me thinks this is about money. Reminds me of the story of Sean Higgins commiting to Kentucky with the threat of his Step-Father and a baseball bat, only to later recant and sign with Michigan. I think Mom had a better deal with LSU.
First of all, if you don't agree with your son's decision then you should talk to him before or after the ceremony, not during the ceremony and make a fool out of yourself. I felt bad for the kid, because he was probably ashamed of his mom for acting like a 3 year old kid for not getting what she wanted. Regardless of what your child picks, you should always 100% support his decision. Obviously she didn't do a good enough job convincing him to go to LSU
That says something about priorities. Kids gettin a free education, no matter where he goes (whether he'll actually earn a degree remains). But to voice your frustration in front of millions of viewers has got to feel embarrassing for him.
Suck it up, Ma. He was going to a great football school, regardless.
funny, i thought his mom was his sister
Not bad looking either. Certainly MILF status for a few people I know.
I was thinking the same thing... I'd put on the tiger head Corso style and bone that
She probably wants her son to be close to home. Moms have a tendency to do that.
Agree. Plus, you have your son going to your favorite team's enemy. That's like a
diehard Mgoblogger's kid going to Ohio. Not to mention the surprise element of it all. She didn't seem to have a clue what his decision would be beforehand.
Landon Collins still has to live under his momma's roof and she looks like someone who is going to be in his ear constantly about his choice. I bet he will send his LOI to LSU on NSD.
When Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
Probably the coolest moment of the kids life so far (espn, national tv, picking between top 2 schools in country) and it was ruined by his freaking mom. What a horrible human being.
was probably a good indicator that he made the right choice.
I was laughing when i seen his announcement while doing cardio but his G/F goes to Bama.
Did he happen to meet her on his recruiting trip?!? That's the question
Maybe his momma spies a succubus.
If that's a big part of the reason he likes Bama, maybe mom has a point... Still a very immature move on her part. He's your son, support him!
i would of went to bama too!
I know what he's thinking about before field goals
Brandon Gibbons would be happy with her
Although she acted in a way that really was unacceptable for the moment (she tarnished one of the biggest moments in her sons life so far), I somewhat understand why. Collins is from Louisiana, so I'm guessing she wanted him to stay close to home, as most mothers would. Furthermore, as a person from Louisiana, she might be have been a big LSU fan (i mean, i don't think any of us would be too thrilled if a child of ours decided to go a rival progam of Michigans to play football). But my biggest thing is, this thing seemed like it was a surprise to her, like her son didn't talk to her about it beforehand. If she wasn't prepared for him to chose Alabama, then that would explain why she reacted the way she did.
Now there is a distinct possibility that she just acted the way she did because she is a jerk, but those were just some possible explanations before we right her off as a terrible person.
That his girlfriend (standing behind Landon in the blazer) is going to Alabama as well.
I think I might be going to Alabama.
but my immediate thought is that it's kind of her responsibility to ask that question, right? If it were me, I would ask the kid until he either told me or I would accept his/her decision for better or worse when it was announced. Too many people live vicariously through the accomplishments of their kids; it's not about you, lady! Bottom Line: be happy, support him and he'll probably buy you that new bimmer when he gets drafted.
She won't have to wait until he gets drafted. He'll be able to buy her one with the signing bonus he'll receive on February 1st.
He chose Bama because of his girl which won't last long more than likely, and momma hates the girl so she wanted him to stay home. Just a hunch and might be way off but that's what i get from the whole thing. No one in the family looks happy except his girl! Haha
that picked during the game last night from the midwest or west coast?
All of the kids I saw were either from the south or east coast...........and then at some point, the commentators commented on how none of the kids were picking Oregon.....show a kid from the west coast and maybe Oregon would be one of his finalists.
It seemed a bit biased toward potential SEC kids (SHOCKED)..............I didn't get a chance to see the entire game, so maybe I missed a few of the school picks. I like it when a couple of the kids picked ECU and Maryland instead of the bigger SEC schools........good for them.
didn't seem sincere to me. It all looked like a nice act meant to throw everyone off the bama money trail.
This might come across badly, but I thought that woman was his sister/girlfriend.
I get why she'd want him to stay close to home, but to do that on national TV in front of your son is wrong on a couple of levels. Your son made a decision that will affect his life going forward in a significant way, yet you basically poop on it because it wasn't what you wanted. Her rationale doesn't seem to be based on educational opportunities or her son's future after football in terms of education, only that LSU is #1 and closer to home. And finally, it is just tacky from the perspective of loved ones openly embarrassing themselves.
I kind of hope Collins does well at Alabama just because his mom wouldn't get it.
What his mom said and did wasn't that bad. It wasn't ideal, but it's not like she yelled at him or chewed him out on national TV. Literally all she said was "I think LSU is a better place to be. LSU Tigers, #1."
Ooooo...what a horrible person!
but it was immature and definitely awkward. But so is having a 17yr-old on National TV pick between two sets of Under Armor gloves to tell the world what school he may or may not be attending next fall.
I'm surprised Mom didn't set her jaw and tell her son he was throwing away his chance to play for a DAMN STRONG FOOTBALL TEAM!
If he is as good as they say he is it doesn't really matter where he goes. He will still likely make it to the NFL and get you that house.
In all seriousness, how old is his mom? Her level of maturity is the opposite of high. She should be happy for her son and not embarass her son on one of his biggest days by displaying her sour grapes to the whole world.
No 18-year old should have that much attention showered on him, and the families shouldn't be part of the circus either.
I like the Youtube comment
"Looks like Mom's already cashed the check LSU sent her"
I'm curious to see how this pans out. Oversigning.com posted on twitter last night that now Alabama has 26 total commits, despite new SEC rules allowing a cap of 25. Also, they don't have any room to back count scholarships.
I think the fact that his GF goes to Bama already has a big part to do with this. Whether or not it factored into his decision, you know his parent(s) at least believed it to have some role. Thats just how they work. Of course a mom would rather her son stay home and play for a national program in their own backyard instead of going into a different state to possibly be with his girlfriend.
The whole ordeal looked like a staged fake.
ESPN looking to build up the Bama/LSU championship game/rivalry just a bit more. The old 'house divided' thing. "Look how much this rivalry means!"
She doesn't really seem mad. She's chuckling at various points.
And the announcer makes a point to tell us how he went against his mother's wishes. I have a feeling that if this wasn't staged, the cameras would try to avoid her silly LSU glove act and the announcers would have enough decency not to embarass the family any more.
Of course, she could just be a dumb bitch, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say it's more likely that she's just an attention whore who has passed that trait on to her son.
Not the time or place
