OT: Kobe out for season

Submitted by MikeCohodes on

ESPN is reporting that Kobe Bryant is done for the year, having torn his rotator cuff. I wonder how bad of a record the Lakers are going to finish with this season. They are already 12-31 and nearly in last in the West. With 39 games to go, how many more wins do you think they'll get to? 20 total tops?  Here is a link to ESPN reporting it: LINK

EDITED: Back in my office, so updating post I'd originally done on mobile to include link and contain more facts.

but does this mean we can finally stop talking about him?

I hope he recovers though and is able to finish his career on his own terms.  He deserves that much.

Take it from a guy on the wrong side of 50 who wears glasses, has hearing aids, puts on five pounds just looking at a burger and whose knees hurt like hell the day after I run if I sit for any length of time.  I dont care who you are - aging sucks.

As The Pretenders once sang back in the day - Time the Avenger.

His perseverance, focus and determination have seen him through a lot of ups and downs.  I find a good lesson in that.

It's rather a tribute to his longevity to see this graphic and then think about just how long he actually has been around in the league. I am pretty sure that if I had suffered all these over time, I would probably just sit still for most of the day and not dare to move, but Kobe has come back well enough more often than not.

Kobe - it's been a great run for you, bruh. Just retire and save your dignity. You are one of the greatest players to have ever played the game of basketball. You have five championships and gone to a total of SEVEN NBA finals, which is amazing and more than Jordan, even though Jordan won six, but it's still incredible to have gone to that many finals. Call it a day.

They beat the warriors with Kobe on the bench, they aren't really any worse without Kobe, which is a shame, because they need to tank harder as if their draft pick goes lower than 5 the Suns get it.

They robbed the Pistons of a title in 1988(Laimbeer phantom foul), screwed the Kings(with help from the refs) in 2002 and basically stole Pau Gasol from the Grizzlies. I hope they suck forever.

I feel so old. I grew up watching Kobe Bryant and Roger Federer, and now both of them have what, 1-2 years tops left in the pros?

I has sads. :(

Speaking of Roger...ouch. Bad exit for him today (technically yesterday for him right now). I used to hate Roger, but tennis is fun when the big four are dominating. I saw a crazy stat that said the big four have won something crazy like 36 out of the past 40 majors. That's insane. I love that Rafael is totally in Novak's head at Roland -Garros. He just cannot beat Rafael there - no one can, for that matter.

To be honest I think they will be a better team without him. He takes so many shots he ruins the chemistry. Phil Jackson was the only coach who can keep him in check. I loved it in 04 how we got him so frustrated and he was jelous that he never won finals MVP the first 3 titles cause of Shaq. He may be a great player but he was a bad teammate. He will never be Jordan.

My favorite player of all time. I believe he will not retire but comeback next season for his farewell tour. Top 3 player of all time, wishing a speedy recovery, wish you the best.

No doubt Kobe is one of the GOAT... but the wayhe's been shooting this particular season, I say they get better without him.
