OT- Kiffin and USC switch jerseys during Colorado game

Submitted by trueblue262 on

I did a quick search to see if this had been discussed, couldn't find anything.

Anyway, with technology today, isn't there a way to prove this? Or is everybody in the media afraid to challenge Kiffin? And the fact that he does it when they are winning by so much just further proves he's a douche.

Eh, what good does it do to challenge it now? All it is is a 15-yard penalty, and the player who switched numbers is ejected. What are they going to do, tell Kiffin his backup QB can't play this Saturday?

Also, if he gets called out for it, it makes Kiffin look kind of stupid; switching a special teams jersey to help convert two points in a game that ended 50-6? That's awfully bush league.

I'm not sure Kiffin cares one bit what he gets called, but at least the rest of the country gets to "lol" a bit in his direction.

Article says the backup QB switched from sharing a number with the backup kicker to the backup punter.  Maybe the backup QB is the field goal / extra point holder and they were planning on having him hold for the backup kicker?  I dunno, Kiffin seems like a slimeball but I can't imagine him thinking "oh boy, Colorado... better go deep into the bag of tricks for this one".

Rule book is a joke - check

Punishments are even more of a joke - check (unless it is Michigan footing a million dollar bill for a trip to the west coast to mount a defense against excessive stretching)

Can you show me one piece of objective proof that "some schools just like to mess with NCAA"?

Didn't Michigan get penalized a couple of seasons ago when they had two players on the field with the same number? I don't remember the exact situation, but I think it was related to the decimated defensive backfield requiring some unexpected personnel combinations.

I  think it was during the Bowling Green game in 2010 when we had Odoms and Avery out there (although I thought it was #9 for both  of them), but I think we were handed 5 yards for illegal participation and something else. Not sure exactly what the full penalty might have been.

And that is why, in an era of 120-player rosters and a shortage of numbers, there needs to be a rule allowing number-switches.

And Lane Kiffin then becomes the reason why a rule book needs to be as large as a set of encyclopedias.

There is no possible explanation for what USC did, apart from "an intent to decieve the opponent."

I am going to go out on a limb and say maybe the back up guys don't have multiple jerseys and something happened to the first jersey or the player didn't like the way it felt.  One time I wore three different shirts in one day and no one wrote a LA Times piece about it.

"Coach Baxter told me to put it on, so I was like, 'All right. Yes sir,'" Kessler said. "[Tailback] D.J. Morgan came up to me and said, 'Yeah, you look like a running back.'"

Kessler also noted that he was trying to look "big" like Negrete, who outweighs the quarterback by about 10 pounds. The two players are both 6-foot-1.

So he definitely was told by the coaching staff to switch numbers. What that means, I have no idea, but it did come down from the staff.

I read your title very quickly and for some reason in my head I read it as "USC and Colorado switch jerseys during game."  And I did not feel surprised.  Not in this day of college football jersey craziness.

It was probably an elaborate ruse that I am sure involved Oliver North and some guys dressed as Hari Krishnas.  Damn You Lane Kiffen and your love for intrigue.  What is next an invisable ball or some sort of laser eye distraction?  They already have those damn song girls isn't that enough?

It would be just like Kiffin to try some trickeration on a 2-point try late in a blowout.  I never thought I'd say it, but Al Davis calling Kiffin a douche may actually have been an understatement.
