You still haven't told me what Robert Ritchie has done to get in the R and R Hall of Fame.  There's still acts out there such as Tom Petty, SRV, Jethro Tull, the Gues Who, the Moody Blues, etc, who were a hundred times more talented than Kid Rock who aren't in.  And if KR gets in before any of them, it's a travesty.

We get that you hate Kid Rock, but why? Did he do something to you? Steal your girlfriend or something? While he might not be your cup of tea you cannot deny that he has musical talent. The guy can play every instrument on stage and most if not all of the ones on his albums.

NEVER laid down for anyone.  His language is colorful but his message is spot-on.  He has always stuck to his principles.  Even when he was married to Pam Anderson he would not "Go Hollywood" and remaind true.

I knew him way back in the day and he has "kept it real" his entire life.

Seeing that all beings are flawed, I don't think it wise to castigate someone for their personal foibles. Kid Rock's behavior has not hurt anyone that I know of and he has made efforts to help others. At the end of the day that puts him in the "good guy" category in my book even with the excessive drinking, womanizing, and drug use.  What bad acts he committs he does to himself. He will suffer the consequences in time for that bahavior. Hopefully for him it won't be fatal.

A person who sells drugs is a dealer of drugs or a "drug dealer."  And even if you disagree about that (although there's no real reason to do so), you've admitted that he sold drugs.  I don't like him.  He's a tool, he writes and performs shitty music, and he used to sell drugs.  The fact that he represents Detroit, or at least pretends to, is a disgrace to the city.

It's pretty sad that when we're looking for champions of the city of Detroit, Kid Rock's efforts are praised so heavily.

Pardon me while I look for some better Detroit role models.

According to Sparty logic, it's hard to be a Michigan fan when you didn't go there, but some of us are anyway.  It's not like it's his fault his parents lived in Romeo when he was born.  Similar to how you don't have to have actually attended U-M to be a fan, I don't see why he should have to maintain a dwelling within the city limits to "be Detroit."

Some people might claim to be fans of the University of Michigan who never attended, but they probably wouldn't/shouldn't claim to "be the University of Michigan."

It might be a subtle difference, but there's a distinction.

This stupid city-vs-suburb mentality is just poisonous to the Detroit area. Most other metropolitan areas don't get as hung up on this stuff (and consequently, their suburbs and central city actually find ways to cooperate once in a while).

Kid Rock is from Metro Detroit. That counts as "Detroit" to most of the world.

Maybe you just meant it as he didn't up and abandon Detroit (his main residence is in Clarkston I believe), and move out to LA like so many stars of any sort do, but he's definitely got a spot out in Cali and spends a decent amount of time out there.
