the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection
but I thought that draft was supposed to be incredibly loaded?
Anybody can chart nowdays, it's a joke. Shows do't put you in the R and R Hall of Fame.
cheat, cheat, and cheat some more, and when you get caught, do the right thing, lie!
can let anyone in. Beastie Boys, Michael Jackson, and Prince do not fall into the classic definition of Rock and Roll. KR has done as much to perpetuate R/R as anyone recently in Detroit.
From the Red Cedar Message Board: "God hates us." Yes He does Lil Bro, yes he does. Everyone hates you.
You still haven't told me what Robert Ritchie has done to get in the R and R Hall of Fame. There's still acts out there such as Tom Petty, SRV, Jethro Tull, the Gues Who, the Moody Blues, etc, who were a hundred times more talented than Kid Rock who aren't in. And if KR gets in before any of them, it's a travesty.
If anyone can do it, you should be able to name at least 20 artists who have charted on 3 different categories. Go.
Temptations, Elvis, Supremes, Johnny Cash, Jackson 5, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Kenny Rodgers, Clapton, Al Green, Four Tops, Carl Perkins, Dianna Ross, Porter Wagoner, Wayne Newton, Queen, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Linda Rondstat, Johnny Rivers. Those are just off the top of my head. And if you think Kid Rock holds a candle toany of them you're delusional.
Which three genres did, for example, Queen or Carl Perkins chart on? You realize he's talking about genres, not just charting on US and Canadian country. If you go by the standards you're going by, Kid Rock has at least four.
"We've beaten Michigan the last four years. So where's the threat?"

Blogging the Virginia Cavaliers at http://fromoldvirginia.blogspot.com/<
Carl Perkins charted in country, rock-a-billy, rock and roll, and more. Queen was rock and roll, prog rock, and even opera. Please don't tell me Robert Ritchie was better than anyone mentioned because if you thinkhe was, you know nothing about music.
It doesn't really help your point when you start comparing Kid Rock to Elvis, The Supremes, The Temptations, and Queen. I love that you can't see how dumb it sounds to name a handful of amazing artists who did the same thing as Kid Rock and then say "see, he sucks."
So youre saying because he did the same thing as the Supremes, Temeptations, Elvis, etc, he should be in the R and R hall of Fame, nice logic.
No, I was saying "name a bunch of artists who have done what kid rock has done" and you named the most talented musicians in the history of rock and roll to compare him to. Although you probably still won't see the irony in saying he sucks and comparing him Elvis all in the same breath.
There's no such thing as a rockabilly chart or an opera chart. Making rockabilly music and charting with it is not the same thing as charting on three different chart genres. Please don't insult my intelligence and make shit up at the same time.
Ok, then list the 4 categories he's charted in. And there is a rock a billy category, shows how much yo uknow.
I'll go one better, I'll give you 12:
Hard Rock Albums
I didn't bother listing the European, Japanese charts, etc. Go find me the Billboard Rockabilly chart.
You're shitting me right. How many of these categories weren't around when all the ones I mentioned were around. Jesus, anybody can make up categories, get a clue. Rock songs, Rock albums, Pop songs, Radio songs, Alternative songs, Alternative albums, Hard Rock albums and Hot 100 were not around. You're makin this up right, holy shit, I've never heard of this, oh my God this is funny. Radio songs? This is hilarious, now I know you'remaking this up, nice try though.
Billboard.com. They're all Billboard categories. It's right fucking here:
You're the dumbass trying to tell me there's a rockabilly chart and you're accusing me of making shit up. How rich is that?? You're the dumbass trying to tell me that the Hot 100 wasn't around for Carl Perkins - hey, guess what, it started in 1958. You might as well quit while you're behind.
Wayne Newton and Ritchie Valenz, seriously? You're making the case against your point with more than a few of those listed.
We get that you hate Kid Rock, but why? Did he do something to you? Steal your girlfriend or something? While he might not be your cup of tea you cannot deny that he has musical talent. The guy can play every instrument on stage and most if not all of the ones on his albums.
"... never forget that Ohio is still a four-letter word."
Not knowing what Carl Perkins did tells me you know nothing about music, case closed.
Lots of acts have charted different categories, please don't tell me this is your basis for KR getting into the R and R Hall of Fame because it's weak.
I don't really have a dog in this fight, but if you personally consider Bob Seger the ultimate musical authority, then shouldn't you take him at his word when he praises Kid Rock?
Seger is probably the musical authority in Michigan, but who's he to praise about Michigan music now days, Eminem, Uncle Kracker. Kid Rock wins by default.
Don't forget that dude on Glee.
Oh, Madonna , too.
Eminem is the best lyricist of the musical generation, over any genre.
"A Michigan man will coach Michigan."
Detroit/Michigan can compare its resume with just about anywhere.
Say what you will about Kid Rock's methods but he's a tireless defender of the city and for that, I'm a fan. There's certainly nothing false or phony about him. And yes, I do like his music, too.
He is like an authentic Nickelback
NEVER laid down for anyone. His language is colorful but his message is spot-on. He has always stuck to his principles. Even when he was married to Pam Anderson he would not "Go Hollywood" and remaind true.
I knew him way back in the day and he has "kept it real" his entire life.
There are a lot of "real" things that aren't admirable.
Twitter - Recruiting Update: May 20
Seeing that all beings are flawed, I don't think it wise to castigate someone for their personal foibles. Kid Rock's behavior has not hurt anyone that I know of and he has made efforts to help others. At the end of the day that puts him in the "good guy" category in my book even with the excessive drinking, womanizing, and drug use. What bad acts he committs he does to himself. He will suffer the consequences in time for that bahavior. Hopefully for him it won't be fatal.
"The Ruhr will not be subjected to a single bomb. If an enemy bomber reaches the Ruhr, my name is not Hermann Göring: you can call me Urban Meyer!"
Good luck with that.
I hate everyone, so you'll have a tough time skewering people I like.
P.S. He used to be a drug dealer, so he didn't just hurt himself.
while techically is illegal, I would not call a "Drug Dealer".
A person who sells drugs is a dealer of drugs or a "drug dealer." And even if you disagree about that (although there's no real reason to do so), you've admitted that he sold drugs. I don't like him. He's a tool, he writes and performs shitty music, and he used to sell drugs. The fact that he represents Detroit, or at least pretends to, is a disgrace to the city.
It's pretty sad that when we're looking for champions of the city of Detroit, Kid Rock's efforts are praised so heavily.
Pardon me while I look for some better Detroit role models.
...get off your high horse about Kid Rock's past indiscretions. The guy genuinely cares about Detroit and is trying to make a difference with his Kid Rock Foundation.
I doubt that you really think the only people who are worthy of respect are those with pristine backgrounds.

so he sold a little weed when he was a kid.... so what? You must be perfect. He's done more for this area than pretty much anyone. He constantly gives back to the community and is always "repping" Michigan. Unless you're doing more to help Detroit, you should just keep your garbage opinions to yourself
remainded loyal to Detroit his entire life. He would perform concerts and dontate the proceeds to charity. No one can claim they love Detroit MORE than KR. He IS Detroit.
It's hard to "be Detroit" when you didn't grow up there and you don't live there.
I suppose Denard Robinson "is East Lansing" because he lives about an hour away from there.
According to Sparty logic, it's hard to be a Michigan fan when you didn't go there, but some of us are anyway. It's not like it's his fault his parents lived in Romeo when he was born. Similar to how you don't have to have actually attended U-M to be a fan, I don't see why he should have to maintain a dwelling within the city limits to "be Detroit."
You can be a fan of Detroit without living there, but to "be Detroit", I'm sorry, but you ought to have the balls to live there.
Some people might claim to be fans of the University of Michigan who never attended, but they probably wouldn't/shouldn't claim to "be the University of Michigan."
It might be a subtle difference, but there's a distinction.
What exactly are you trying to say? The way you worded that sounds like some caller on a national sports radio show tiredly bagging on Detroit when they have never even visited. I would assume that is not your case, but that is certainly they way that comment sounds.
if I wanted to "be" Argentina, I would have to live in Argentina or at least visit Argentina. I am having none of that!
This stupid city-vs-suburb mentality is just poisonous to the Detroit area. Most other metropolitan areas don't get as hung up on this stuff (and consequently, their suburbs and central city actually find ways to cooperate once in a while).
Kid Rock is from Metro Detroit. That counts as "Detroit" to most of the world.
tell people that I am from Detroit. I have never lived south of M-59 but I am "from Detroit" and proud of it.
I dont get why people want to put a wall up at 8 Mile Rd.
and swallow them all up - Unigov! In general, I think just about every other metropolitan area has city vs suburbs issues to some degree. Not sure what the perfect answers are...
3 cheers for KR. I have no problem whatsoever with the response or the language. Well done.
Kid Rock bought a spot in Malibu forever ago dude. Not Hollywood but pretty damn close. Maybe you just meant it as he didn't up and abandon Detroit (his main residence is in Clarkston I believe), and move out to LA like so many stars of any sort do, but he's definitely got a spot out in Cali and spends a decent amount of time out there. Where do you think he first crossed paths with her? Clarkston?
Can't blame the dude. Are you in Southeast MI right now? Look outside.
My handle is no bullshit, and it is currently 67 and partially cloudy today my friend. Clearwater, FL, man. I don't blame him either, I was just responding to above poster that he may not have went "Hollywood" per se, but he did to some degree or he would have probably never met Pam.
at an Award Show not at the Hollywood Kroger. I own a cabin in Northern Michigan, does that make me "Not From Detroit" because I own a home in a "white" part of the state. Your argument is flawed.
If you click on the link in the OP, you can read the entire letter (which is much longer than what was quoted above). If you can get past the salty language, he raises some legitimate points.
I don't know who Susan Tompor is nor do I know why Kid Rock responded to so. But Kid Rock's line to cordially invite her to go fuck herself is classic. I'd like to extend the same expression to Marky D.
If you don't like KId Rock, I;'d like to cordially invite you to go fuck yourself.(hehe)
Seriously, what does his talent or lack thereof, have to do with anything?
