OT - Kid Rock serving up some good ole' Freep hate

I've never been a huge fan of Kid Rock, but his response to Susan Tompor's Free Press article on his "Made in Detroit" clothing line has me reevaluating that.

Too bad DB couldn’t have opened with the same line as Kid Rock back during the Freep Jihad presser..

KID'S RESPONSE
Dear Susan Tompor,

Let me first start off by cordially inviting you to go fuck yourself. I have always said that I do care what people in my hometown think of me, and the hatchet job you have just written about The Made In Detroit company in The Detroit Free Press has made me so upset that I am left with no choice but to defend myself and my company.

http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/local/Kid-Rock-%22Cordially%22-Responds-To-Critical-Detroit-Free-Press-Columnist

I'm failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance.

And there's no better way to start a letter than telling someone to "go fuck yourself."

Forgive me if I refuse to take a morality lesson from Bob Ritchie.

I think neither person in this arguement is one to take morality lessons. Kid Rock happens to do a lot of charitable things here in Michigan, but one to get your morality lessons from he is not. On the other hand I have yet to read a column from Susan Tompor that does anything but stir the pot to get her more readers, she will say anything for a buck.

No winner here just entertainment.

Gee: I can't imagine a paragon of ethical and accurate journalism like the Freep intentionally falsifying "facts" or excluding important information from any of their fine pieces.

The bottom line: the Freep will be out of business soon, and they are whoring clicks to stay afloat.  It's one thing to piss off Wolverine fans, but another altogether to piss off Kid Rock fans.  Whether or not you like his music, a lot of people do.  Also, many Detroit loyalists might look at the piece as "shitting where you sleep."

I can't say that I would disagree with them.

Great input!  Did you even bother reading up on the issue at hand before spouting off? This has nothing to do with Kid Rock's music( I'm not a fan of it, either), and he's certainly not giving anyone a lesson in morality. He's one of the most outspoken advocates for Detroit and Michigan in general; he does a lot of good things around here, and all he's doing is responding to a hack job by the Freep. I'd like to cordially invite you, Magnus, to go fuck yourself.

increases the statistical chances, this is a sucker's bet.  I remember in my Stats 101 class the Prof made us all write down our birth month and day (not year).  There were 40 in the class, he bet us that there would be a match.

We all said no way.  He bet us one free class period for us and we would have to to 5 extra credit questions per week.  Everyone took the bet.  We lost...twice.

You see statistics are a stuborn thing.  Out of 23 random people, there is a 50% chance that 2 of them have the same month and day.  If you add more people, it just increases the odds.

So 5 years is a sucker's bet because if he doesnt make it in 2016 for some strange reason, he will withing 5 years.  You may not like his music, you may not like him as a person but done ever take a sucker's bet.

I already told you.  He is the only artist out there who can mix rock, hip-hop, and country into one show, one album, and one song, and do it very, very successfully.  The rest has been nitpicking over the definition of successful, which by your standards he isn't and by every other reasonable standard in the world, he is.  You come up with these things that he hasn't done that you think should keep him out of the Hall of Fame, which are all bullshit because they haven't kept a whole bunch of other artists out of the Hall of Fame.  There's a long list of RRHOFers that he's already more famous and more successful than.

You can tell me your definition of a HOF artist and a HOF resume.  And when you do, I'm sure there'll be a ton of HOF inductees that don't fit it.  But we're not debating your standards, we're debating theirs.  Which are pretty capricious.  But I'm going on record right now as saying Kid Rock will be in.  No question about it.  I only wish I could see your face when they announce it.

KR could get in today if he was eligible.  You need to understand how the voting works.

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of    their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists’ contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.

So KR first major label release was 1998 with Devil.  His first album was Grits Sandwiches in 1990 under Jive Records but was dropped.  KR's own, Top Dog Records, pick it up.  TOP DOG = POT GOD a reference from one of  his hits "I am the Bull God".  It is also a shout out to Romeo Mi where the High School mascot is the Bulldogs.

So if the RRHOF counts 1998 Devil as the first major release, then Kid is not eligible until 2024.  There is a lot of time to win more awards in 12 years.  He may not be a first ballot but he will get in.  He is very popular with industry executives for his easy going nature and his understand of business.  KR is a true professional.
