OT: Kickoff Classic plans

Submitted by SagNasty on

Not sure if anyone cares but I just booked my hotel for the 2012 opener in Dallas. I was able to get a room and the Knights Inn in Arlington for 2 nights for $149.00. The reviews say they offer a shuttle and for the most part the reviews say it is a clean place to stay. Check out Hotels.com for the same deal. BTW hotels are filling up fast.

Now I have to find a flight and right now prices seem to be really high. Best prices I am seeing are $800+ for two round trip tickets. Anyone else find a cheaper flight? Or is it to early to book a flight. Any feedback would be welcomed.

I got my hotel the day I got my tickets, I'm staying at the Homestead for 65 a night, it was that or pay 300 bucks. Wasn't alot to choose from at the time and I can't imagine its better now. It's about 3 miles from the stadium so not too bad.

I live in Arlington. That knights inn is a total shithole. Do NOT stay there. With that said, there are flight out of Lansing for $300. My best advice for anyone traveling here for the game, stay north. You get south of I30 and you are in a shitty part of town. Same goes for east of 360. North of 30, west of 360.

I had made plans to stay at a Knights Inn once on a trip for a wedding and was only checked in for about 20 minutes when I checked back out and went somewhere else.  Everything about that place was disgusting and I will never stay at one again.

Thank you. I will be cancelling my reservation. I am now considering the double tree near the airport, any advice on that? It says its 20 minutes from the stadium which sucks but I think I can make it work

It pains me to know that as desperately as I want to go to this game, I have no idea where I'm going to be in 5 months (still trying to get my ass a job), and I probably now won't find a ticket to the game for under $300.

Our group is staying at the Embassy Suite Dallas.  It's 21 miles from the stadium but given that i drive from Cleveland to Ann Arbor and back every home game 21 miles seems like nothing to me.  And given that we'll undoubtably be tailgating from about.....oh...say 9:00am on game day the drive is pretty meaningless.  And i love Embassy Suites - cocktail party from 5-7 with free drinks and food and a made to order breakfast in the morning.  I figure those two alone are worth about $50 a day to me.  And the rooms are nice too.

The funny part is that when I requested Thursday to Sunday the rate was $10 per night.  When I requested Friday to Sunday it jumped to $240 per night so it's way cheaper for us to have the rooms an extra day.

And FWIW ALL Knights Inn's are shitholes.  Knights Inn are famous for green shag carpet circa 1978, purple bedspreads and garish red walls.  I'm not certain but i think they all offer attractive hourly rates too if you know what i mean.

Me and my brother, Here2, booked our flight for $257 roundtrip out of Indianapolis a couple weeks ago.  I don't know exactly what our hotel and stuff is, but we got the packages available to former players through our dad.  It includes 2 nights stay at a 4-star hotel, food and booze, so needless to say I am pretty amped.

you may want to fly into fort worth, might be cheaper?  I went to a conference in Dallas last year and we flew into Ft. Worth because it was half as cheap.

Probably driving from el paso the real problem is finding somewhere to stay and of course the tickets. i'm just hoping that ticket prices go down. Does anyone know if they're going to put up video screens outside like for the superbowl? i may still consider going if that's happening cause it would still be a fun weekend in Dallas

Our group (12) are staying at the marriot rennsaince downtown.  Two rental vans were cheap split 6 ways.  Wanted a car because we want to see dallas, not pay cab fare, shuttle to and from hotel.. oh yea and TAILGATE before the game.

Friday night we gonna see whats downtown / dinner and bar hop.

Sat obviously.

Sunday recover / see some sites if we wake up on time and then fly home.

If anyone is up for mobbing a local place with 50+ people for dinner and drinks i think that would be great!  No flash mob sorry ill be to intoxicated

Is anyone else staying in Fort Worth?  I just cashed in some Marriott rewards points for two nights at the Worthington Renaissance.  Couldn't find anything close so I figured down town would be nice.
