He definitely had his chance to win that job.   After Clark left, he was definitely the favorite, but then to be beaten out by a true freshman and then a former walk-on AND with Paul Jones in the mix-- he had to know that he was pretty much done there.   I wonder where he'll end up.

Because when he committed to U of M, he said U of M was like "the Godfather" of football programs.  Of course, you don't turn your back on the Godfather without paying consequences.

Or, alternatively, if U of M is the Godfather, and Newsome isn't getting a fair shot at a role he's made for (QBing at PSU), expect a severed horse head in JoePa's bed soon...

I know you are joking, but I always thought that Newsome had a better opportunity for success as either a FB or a LB at the college level. If Newsome wants to play on a BCS conference team, he probably should seriously consider a position change.

I was wrong about Newsome. I really thought he could be our version of Tebow.

Consider me blown away by his relative lack of success. I still think we would have used him in a way more suited to his abilities, but I guess that is how the cookie crumbles, or something. Good luck to him. I will always root for him.

He has steely eyes and the smooth coat of a Yale man... WTF?! I like him because I took an interest in him when he was a Michigan commit. I followed him and thought he would work well in our offense. I don't hate the player, I hate the game, man.

He always said he wanted to play in a pro style offense, so I never understood why he chose Michigan in the first place.  Silly kids.

However, he seems like a good kid, so I wish him luck wherever he goes.

Maybe Newsome should go down to FCS.  He would be able to play right away, and wouldn't have to worry about the amount of time it is taking for the game to "slow down" for him.  If he wants to play with the big boys and maybe make the NFL, I agree with those who are thinking FB or LB.  I would add H-back/TE to the equation.

As to the "support him or don't support him" debate, I always have mixed emotions for UM transfers or decommits.  It's sorta cool to see them do well, but not so well that I wish they were still at Michigan.

Life is funny that way.

One minute you're a 4-star/5-star recruit, texting about how blue you are and everybody loves you.

The next minute, you're riding the pine and nobody wants you in the game.

Paul Jones, Robert Bolden and McGloin all did well fairly well and the future for PSU may be pretty bright there. McGloin really surprised me.

I think Newsome's a good athlete and he'll find success with some better coaching.
