That was an awesome play by Kessler - I thought he had a chance to poke the puck away and waste some more time, but the dive and flick was a great shot. Let's hope the team can keep the momentum going into the medal rounds.

I hate how the Miracle on Ice seems to be the only other hockey game NBC is aware of. It's like they know USA vs Canada and Lake Placid and completely missed the thirty years of hockey in between. They also seem to have missed the fact that Olympic hockey is now NHLer vs NHLer, not college kids vs Professional USSR All Star Team,

He went to CC and OSU but I don't care. He's representing Michigan and that goal might rival Ovechkin's in Phoenix. I'll give Alex the nod since there was a goalie when he made his goal, but damn, Kessler's goal was amazing.

God doesn't that just sum up the Ducks this year though? Perry needed to skate his ass off there and authoritatively establish puck possession. I don't particularly like the Ducks but I've got a bunch of their players on my fantasy team. Oh well, at least this time there is a large silver lining to Perry's apathy. Go USA!

Because 99% of empty net goals are just gimmies. Kesler played on one of my friend's hockey teams for a couple games during the summer. He played D because "otherwise it wouldn't be fair." It still wasn't fair.
