OT: Kentucky Offers Eighth-Grader From Detroit
So this appears to be the SEC's strategy to get back at Harbaugh: They're coming into our state and stealing our middle-schoolers!
Kentucky offered a 6-4, 260-pound lineman from Oak Park. Big boy - he'll be playing alongside U-M commit Ja'Raymond Hall this season.

Nah, most eight graders in Michigan can't even find Kentucky on a map.
Yeah, but most 11th graders in Kentucky can't find Kentucky on a map, so we're coming out ahead still.

I don't get it... There are no lineman in Hockey, and linesman are refs not players. BUT I'm also an idiot so I'm proboably just missing something.

Remember that kid that USC offered in 7th grade that was supposed to be real good but ended up at West Virginia.
Yeah, he had 7 catches for 131 yards and 2 TDs at wide receiver last year.
wow, wonder how big he'll end up being and if he turns out to be any good I think Kentucky won't have a chance at him after Harbaugh starts recruiting him.

is really much of a novelty any more. There are plenty of kids that hit early growth spurts that allow them to excel at an early age because they out size everybody they play against. This becomes relevant news only when his skill level is determined to be as superior as his size, which happens much later in high school.

It isn't about his size either....

Seven inches taller than me and 80 pounds heavier and only, what, like 13 or 14 years old (25 years younger)? Clearly, my parents were not paying attention to things like nutrition or what might be in the water.
Even though it is a non-committable offer, it is still odd that the NCAA definition of "prospective student-athlete" still allows schools to offer this young.

How far will you let this blog fall?

There's no reason for any program to give an offer to a kid that hasn't even gotten to high school yet.

was offered in 8th grade by Bobby Knight. That was about 1985.
Then I realized in Kentucky that hookers and blow aren't considered proper gifts until you're 14 or 15.
Nothing to see here.

Is this potentially the next Greg Oden. Looks like he is 40 while playing in college.
Why? He could turn out to be a great recruit, some day, but offering football recruits this early is just a dumb strategy, honestly.
He'll be 9' tall and 575 pounds!
