OT- Justified on FX

Submitted by Steve in PA on
Anybody else liking this? I initially watched because it has actors from 2 of my favorite now-gone series...The Shield and Deadwood. Also saw one of the actresses from Hung. As long as they don't venture too far into cliche characters I think it has some potential.

Yeah, I thought it was decent and I think it has potential. But like you said, they need to be careful with the cliches. FX puts out some good stuff though. The Shield was top notch.

I like your style, dude. I am right with you- SOA is a sick, sick show. I pretty much like all of FX's shows- The League was tremendous, Sons of Anarchy is outstanding, I've watched Rescue Me since its inception, love Damages, etc. Always Sunny is great, too. In my opinion, FX puts out the best group of shows of anyone. As in, I think I watch every one of their original shows. And I definitely liked the premiere of Justified. Timothy Olyphant is a pimp in the show, and I like that it's set in Eastern Kentucky/Appalachia. The scenery is cool/different than what you normally see on television. All in all, I am definitely going to watch the series. Also, I am fairly sure that males in the 18-35 demographic are FX's target audience, so it isn't surprising that they'd put out so many shows that someone like myself and many of the posters on this board would be fans of. I can't wait for the next season of Sons of Anarchy- that show is awesome.

Its strange how there are cable networks now that really do put out better program than the major networks, though its not hard with most of the crap on network tv I guess. Are there more networks putting out really quality programs aside from FX, USA and AMC which are all I can think of at the moment?

I think it's because they make more money. W/ subscription fees as well as advertisement, they've got more cash to throw at making decent productions. There's a reason that networks have fallen all over themselves to make reality shows. They're cheap to produce and can occupy two hours of programming per week. One hour of actual show and another hour long results show.

Im watching because of DeadWood...loved that show...i am still pissed to this day how it ended...BULLSHIT. but ya Timothy Olyphant is basically playing the same character which he is great at...dont you think?

was pretty outstanding, I agree with you and other posters here. I think I'd read HBO thought is was way too expensive to produce, and Milch was interested in doing "John from Ohio," so it didn't have much support internally from the network or the creator. I saw one episode from "John from Ohio" and thought, he gave up Deadwood to do this? Though I don't know what I was expecting. What from Ohio is ever enjoyable? (Guided by Voices excepted)

I thought Justified was REALLY bad. Very cheesy IMO. Sheild, Resuce Me, Sons of Anarchy, Always Sunny, The League - all really good shows, but this one was just bad. Every shooting was "justified". . .I mean come on! A lot of the quotes were really bad. That said I'll give it a shot since FX shows have been really good to date....though Damages which has also been one of my favs has been dissappointing lately. . .

It doesn't get any better than that... just an unbelievable show. It's Always Sunny is great.. a bit better in the first two seasons... but still great. But The Shield might be my favorite show of all time... even more so than The Sopranos or The Wire.
