OT ? Jon Chait, with reason and wisdom, strikes again.

Submitted by itself on
Sorry if this was posted earlier, but Jon Chait offers up some good advice as to how best move forward. After outlining the huge missteps of both Snyder and Rosenberg, Chait presses the Michigan fan base (us) to hold ourselves to a higher standard in dealing with this apparent smear campaign. Im guilty of some of the shit hes calling us on, we all are, and understandably so. Yes, the phony reviews were funny and yes the Freep is a rag of a paper and yes Rosenberg is an asshat. But lets get back to football and wait and see WMU get stomped come saturday. Bottom line: Good read, good point. Go Blue. http://michigan.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=983661

Kickoff in 64 hours. If we go from now until then without a single mention of The Newspaper That Shall Not Be Named Nor Linked, I will be a happy man.

Keep this article in mind when you are feeling angry at Michael "Hatchet Job" Rosenberg. While the Amazon.com reviews of his book are hilarious, they ultimately are cheap shots. As the national media comes to a consensus on the validity of the article and the charges, such cheap shots will harm our cause and not help it.

Thank you Mr. Chait. This has been said before on this blog but people are not taking heed. I hope between you and Brian(who I can only assume feels the same), we can put a stop to this. It makes M fans look like the very same buckeye and sparty fans which we love to look down on. The farther we stoop, the worse we look.

This article by Chait is excellent. He articulates very succinctly and clearly why the "Downfall" parody, which is very funny,(http://mgoblog.com/content/jihad-second-current-and-former) is so ill-advised. As irritated as I am with Rosenberg and the (name redacted,) I do not want to become Sparty or a Buckeye in my response to them. I know for a fact that mgoblog is deleting inappropriate threads. However, how much better it would be if such threads weren't posted to begin with. Chait is right on in suggesting that the best response is to reasonably, passionately, clearly, and factually, without slander or malice, address the so-called issues raised by Rosenberg. In large measure, this is the tack taken by Mgoblog. I hope that this strategy is employed not only in regards to Rosenberg, but also with Drew Sharp and others within the MSM showing questionable judgement and analysis skills. This approach is what makes mgoblog so relevant, readable, enjoyable, and supportable. Kudos to Chait, and in large measure, to mgoblog.
