Yes, it's very weird. It seemed like 2 years ago was his farewell tour. Then it seemed like last year was the farewell tour. I love Corso, but he is well past his prime. He has a hard time getting through segments and it doesn't seem like he's all there.

He used to add humor...now he's just a cute old fella who tries really hard.

Humor was the "AH! FUCK IT!" days...if you've watched the past few years you see that he's a shell of himself since the stroke. Herbie finishes his thoughts and is always patting him on the back as if he's saying "it's okay."

He broke down this past year after he had a really bad episode where he couldn't get anything out and he was super embarrassed. He apologized (for no reason, he's a HOFer) and thanked the guys on the set for getting him through those moments.

He's on the show less and less now (Pollack takes his spot), but last year should've been the goodbye. Maybe let him do the opening segment and the headgear pick at the end, but that should be it. Would love to see Les Miles take over for him.

I, for one, am not thrilled about Corso's return.  If he's still up for it, good for him, I'd never want to stand in the way of the guy's earnings or what makes him want to get out of bed everyday.  But, for the last few years it appeared he was really struggling keeping up, and I really think he brings the show down and Kirk has to cover for him.

My hope was they would bring in Les Miles as new blood;, he's just a kooky as Corso, could provide good insight into games, coaches, strategy; has no problem running his mouth, etc.

Opportunity missed IMHO.

Tl;dr ESPN isn't nearly as bad as people say and I think for the most part they do a good job. Quit your bitchin' and get off my lawn

ESPN doesn't show infomercials or soap operas or and First Take gets more ratings than a rerun of a game or another Sportcenter. It's their version of daytime television. You don't get mad at the new storyline on General Hospital or an infomercial about gym equipment or the Slap Chop or yet another rerun of Bones or Law and Order, so why First Take? It's on at 10 AM, most people are at work not watching TV and after the 2 AM Sportcenter ends at about 3, ESPN has to fill the next 14 hours until people get off work and ratings go back up. And that's just the main channel, they still have ESPNEWS, ESPNU, and ESPN2 to fill. And before somebody says get rid of those channels then I don't hear people complain about them in the fall with the smorgasbord of College Football they get to watch and I do hear them complain when ESPN has the audacity to put a game on ESPN3 (streaming) which is where they all would go. I don't get complaining that you don't watch ESPN besides games anymore, what else would you watch? I can get every highlight of every game on my phone instantly and there are even ways to get condensed versions of NBA, NFL and CFB games pretty soon after they air. In a world where I have that why the fuck would I watch any Sportcenter that was just all highlights? I mean what do you expect them to put on? Most of their original programming is cheap filler just to fill air time to sell some Nugenix ads between games and 30 for 30. What would you have them do? This isn't unique to ESPN either and I don't get why they are held to such a high standard. Would you swear off CBS because you didn't like something Gayle King said? The whole argument is ridiculous and boils down to "I don't watch this channel unless they have something on I like" which fucking duh.

All of this animosity belies the fact that ESPN is without a doubt my favorite place to watch a game. The only one that can even remotely measure up is NBA on TNT. ESPN doesn't have a stupid robot dancing on my screen every 5 minutes, ESPN has multiple channels so if a lead in game runs long I can easily switch over if I need to, ESPN has the best sports streaming in the business and most of their announcers don't suck. It's NBA and NCAAM talking heads are excellent and NFL ones are more hit than miss. I'll concede it's CFB ones suck but that seems to be a sport wide phenomenon, I challenge you to find one good one across every company that doesn't spend Saturdays calling games. To me at least they are the Worldwide Leader for a reason and I don't get all the hate.

Tbf though if you want to come at me about their idiotic decision to end Grantland I have no counter argument.
