OT: Joe Paterno is Not Uncle Bernie.
I haven't actually heard about these rumors, but I guess there were rumors (we love rumors) that JoePa's health was failing and he was in the hospital. Those rumors have been rebuffed by the Paterno family.
I did find one quote curious though...
Daughter Mary Kay Hort, for her part, also denied the rumors, firmly ruling out suggestions that her father might resign for health reasons.
Asked whether he planned to call it quits after the Outback Bowl, she said: "It is not his planned last game."
Anyone heard of these rumors before this? I just find the whole situation odd.
Maybe it was Tony Dungry?
Also, four players from Florida out including cornerback Janoris Jenkins due to injuries. Thought those of you in pools would like to know so you don't get McGroined.

I think at his age, adding a qualifier about it not being his planned last game is appropriate. I'm impressed he can still stand on the sidelines as well as he can. It's no small feat for a really old guy.

I get your age disclaimer when talking about Joepa, but he said himself he planned on coming back for the 2011 season. I just found this rumor out by being a rebuffed rumor. I really haven't heard this at all and I live in Pennsyltucky. The whole story was just odd to me.

I agree. He has had his ups and downs at PSU, but there is no denying that he is an icon and what he has meant for the game.

Against Wisconsin in 2006. Between that and the hip he had replaced in 2008, I am increasingly suprised he hasn't retired. I'm impressed, too, even though to be honest I think he should retire.

I can't believe he can still coach. My grandma is 2 years younger than him and she can't remember to take her diabeetus medicine. How about some Wilford Brimley videos?

One day JoePa is going to wake up in the coaching staffroom and simply leave his body behind. He will continue coaching as the ghost of Penn State football.

...and I Will Become More Powerful Than You Can Possibly Imagine. Yeah, I can see JoePa pulling a Kenobi.

I was going for the Professor Binns from Harry Potter reference, but Star Wars is just as good.

Sources are telling me Tony Dungry will take the Charlotte Bobcats coaching position after Larry Brown was terminated.

I am jealous of your sources.

Joe Pa is this?

Just watching his interviews this season, JoePa is finally starting to sound and look his age. I wish him the best.

JoePa is afraid of retiring and ending up like Bear Bryant, those old timers gave their all to a school and even though he should have retired 10 years ago he loves the school and his players more than anything and feels like he would disappoint them if he retired.
