I think "asses" is the only word to describe the people of a city who are willing to celebrate a lair's career on a day that was designated as a celebration of our great country's independence. Yes, Columbus, you are That Guy.

facade these people project is just so that the last ten years of their fandom is not invalidated. 

We are just wittnessing that denial in the grieving process acted out on a masive scale right now.  At some point most "normal" people will get over it and some will remain stuck in the denial phase.  Sucks to be them.

I was at a 4th parade in Manistee, MI today. There was a Sparty group in the parade very boisterous taunting if you had M gear on. Very disturbing. Why are colleges even in July 4 parades?

Can we just give Ohio back? Think about it, do we need Ohio? For anything? Can we sell Ohio to help cut the national debt? Maybe we can use it for a nuclear testing ground, but by the people already there it may have been that at one point...

Am I the only who one this seriously outrages? On a day when we're supposed to be honoring and celebrating the birth of a country and all those who have sacrificed for it, there are people putting that clown on a pedestal in an effort to compare him to some sort of great war hero??? SMH
